  • We've announced a joint venture, in partnership with a doctor-led group, to acquire Western Hospital in Henley Beach, South Australia. The investment is part of a broader financial package to support the future of the 50-year-old hospital, including a $3 million government grant over the next two years. Both private and public patients in Adelaide’s western suburbs are set to benefit, with the joint venture to upgrade the existing hospital to deliver short stay procedures in areas including orthopaedics, gastroenterology, ophthalmology and general surgery. Following an initial investment of around $4 million, the joint venture will convert the hospital into a short stay surgical centre with 4 operating theatres, a procedure room and 24 beds. The investment will also support improvements to patient experience, including an upgrade of key facilities to meet growing demand for orthopaedic procedures and more streamlined admission and discharge processes. • Amplar Health is pleased to announce that Cameron Holland has joined the executive team leading Primary Care & Investments.   Our Amplar Health ambition is to accelerate the health transition from traditional models and settings to personalised on-demand advice and treatment delivered closer to home, which could be the family home, a retirement village, a medi-hotel, residential aged care or short-stay hospital. Our sub-acute and acute care and mental health services are delivered nationally via digital, telehealth, or in person options.   Most consumer health journeys start with a GP and Amplar Health is investing heavily in growing our primary care capabilities to better deliver proactive, preventative care models which support people to age well. Cam's role will lead the organic and inorganic growth beyond our current 106 clinics and drive primary care advocacy and funding reform through our Proactive Primary Care Project, as well as join the board of Myhealth.   We warmly welcome Cam to the team. #MakingHealthPersonal

Earlier today, we released a comprehensive report on the future of home hospitals in Australia. In the KPMG Australia report, commissioned by Medibank, we explore the potential impact of the significant expansion of this model of care with real-world case studies demonstrating how the home hospital model of care can deliver cost savings, improve access and enhance care. 🔍 Dive into the full report below.

  • At Amplar Health, we are committed to transforming healthcare to offer our customers and the community increased choice and value. One way we deliver on this is through our Calvary Amplar Health Joint Venture which delivers My Home Hospital, an SA Health service. My home Hospital brings acute, hospital-level care straight to the patient, in the comfort of their own home. A new KPMG Australia report commissioned by Medibank reveals the incredible potential of this model of care, highlighting that broader adoption of home hospitals could deliver the following benefits to Australia’s health system in 2030:   - Substitute up to 1.2 million physical bed days   - Save up to $1 billion in healthcare costs    - Save up to $6.4 billion in capital expenditure on new physical hospital infrastructure   Home hospitals replicate the level of care provided in traditional ‘bricks and mortar’ hospitals, providing acute care to patients in their own homes using a combination of technological interventions and direct face-to-face care by doctors, nurses and allied health professionals. Through embracing home hospitals and innovative healthcare solutions, together, we can create a system that empowers patients, supports providers, and helps create a sustainable health system for all Australians.   Read more here: https://lnkd.in/gxHZ28aE Interested in finding out more about virtual and home hospital solutions? We’re excited to be at today’s Wild Health Summits Connected Care Summit, where influential leaders from government, healthcare, and technology have come together to discuss healthcare transformation. A highlight has been our CEO, Robert Read, participating in an insightful panel discussion alongside Kate Quirke, Suzanne M. Miller, MD, FACEP, FACEM, GAICD and Ryan Mavin titled 'can technology enable connected care to deliver one health system?' Rob emphasised the need for, and our focus on, new healthcare delivery models that operate outside of traditional settings and highlighted My Home Hospital, delivered through our Calvary Amplar Health Joint Venture, as a great example of connected care using virtual solutions. We’re also proud to have a strong team presence in attendance, including our Chief Commercial Officer, Beverly Smith, Head of Business Development, Kylie Boreham, and Market Development Manager – Policy, Glen Cormick. Innovation in healthcare is essential, and we’re committed to collaborating with government, businesses, and not-for-profits to transform healthcare and make health personal. #MakingHealthPersonal
