  • During the COVID-19 outbreak, the USAID-funded Karamoja Resiliency Support Unit (KRSU) noted that insecurity in Karamoja, Uganda increased due to government-mandated curfews. This emphasized the need for local and national governments to enhance their security presence and operations during such times. While curfews tend to limit movement, KRSU’s research highlighted how this can inadvertently create opportunities for criminal activity as attackers exploit limited nighttime movement.
