The Academy is proud to honor five trailblazers who have transformed the film industry and inspired generations of filmmakers and movie fans at tonight’s 15th Governors Awards: - Richard Curtis - Quincy Jones - Juliet Taylor - Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli The late music producer and composer Quincy Jones and casting director Juliet Taylor will receive Honorary Awards, filmmaker and philanthropist Richard Curtis will be presented with the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award, and producers Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli will be awarded the Irving G. Thalberg Memorial Award. The awards, which are all Oscar statuettes, were voted on by the Academy’s Board of Governors this past June. Film history lives here! The Academy just unveiled the latest additions to its world-renowned collection—the largest film-related archive on the planet with over 52 million items. Highlights include Noboru Yoshida’s original drawings for Studio Ghibli, Quentin Tarantino's handwritten PULP FICTION script, and objects from Guillermo del Toro's PINOCCHIO. Also joining the collection: iconic costumes worn by Jamie Lee Curtis, Kurt Russell, Meryl Streep, and Joanne Woodward, plus personal treasures from Curtis Hanson, Barbara Kopple, Ve Neill, Oliver Stone, and Paul Verhoeven.
