    There is a paradox we have discovered at 1ntegrate while building our software automation/integration business this past year. We call it the 'Automation Invisibility Paradox'. It goes like this.... A well automated workflow or integration will be completely invisible to the customer - as it should be - if everything is working as expected. Hundreds of successful automation runs will be carried out over months with data syncing across the many platforms covered by system we have built. Hundreds of hours saved in previously manual tasks that are now automated. Until an error happens... An error or unexpected update in any one of the integrated platforms can cause a previously smooth automation to require some attention. That is why we fully monitor and proactively fix our automations, many times before the customer even notices. But...sometimes the customer DOES notice 😬. And overtime if you do not have a way of showcasing your automations when they are doing what is expected, it will feel to the customer like you only exist in their mind when something goes wrong. But what about the hundreds of times things went right? Un-fair! - as my nine-year-old likes to point out. To solve this problem, we built the '1ntegrate Value Portal'. https://app.1ntegrate.com It's a tool we created where our customers can log in to see the automations we built them. It describes the automation, which platforms are involved and most importantly how many times it was successfully run and ultimately how many hours of manual work it has saved them. It sends weekly notifications giving them a summary of how our automations performed with a link to come see for themselves. It's a reminder of the ROI our service provides and of why they wanted to automate these tasks in the first place. Look it’s working!     The media seems to be souring now on AI after hyping it up for the last year. I read a number of articles in the last week, all negative. One was about using the word AI in the marketing of a product and the effect on buying intention. According to the article, there was a negative correlation. Like any hype cycle, the positive hype and the negative hype seem to swing in the extreme with the actual value being somewhere in the middle. But the new narrative seems to imply that all the big tech firms have overspent on AI and there isn't a sustainable monetization strategy to offset the cost on the horizon. To prove their point they are pointing to the recent earnings calls and subsequent drops in stock price of the big players. Anecdotally, it does feel like AI has crossed a peak in terms of the frequency I see it talked about in my LinkedIn feed. It is down from the frenzy just a month ago. The souring and questioning seem to be around a couple of issues from what I can deduce: 1 - How do normal businesses perceive the probability that an AI product will help their business either make or save more money? 2 - So many companies have just slapped the AI label on existing products that the term has lost its meaning and the value associated with the extra cost of the label is not readily apparent. Personally, I approach AI just like I do any other technology - as an integration problem. It is one more technology that has a great potential to help businesses. However, it needs to be carefully and thoughtfully integrated into the operations of each unique business.
