A production ramp up typically means :- 1. Adding new people / equipment / automation 2. Redistribution of work amongst this new group of people / equipment / automated processes 3. Longer production runs in a day (Shifts) This would call for focus on training, process capability / stability checks and most important some additional containment checks. These checks can subsequently be optimized through continuous improvements and targeted capability / reliability production runs. Also not to forget that this rigorous / enhanced production runs would demand focus on effective maintenance of equipment.

The best way of ensuring Quality from production is to 1) define standard work 2) ensure standard is known 3) ensure that standard is followed. This is difficult when volume is not increasing, and even more difficult when volume increases and new employees need to be trained. However, standard work is not only giving Quality better than any other mean. Standard work also increase output better then any other factor. So, the priority sold be to implement standard work already before volume increase.
