While presenting my Industrial Design concepts, I always make sure to start with the business challenge client is facing, with that include market competition and user challenges, we agree to these points first and then I show concepts which clearly solve these challenges. Also I make sure to present multiple concepts and good platter for combinations to help user feel, these are the maximum and best options I can get for the defined problem statement. We also make sure that the concepts are visualized well so that client can feel the solutions in the actual situations. When possible we use mockup, physical prototype and also augumented reality prototype for client to feel the solution very clearly. This make client very comfortable.

Whether it’s through reduced operational costs, maintenance expenses, or increased productivity, make sure the financial advantages are clear. Provide Prototypes or Visuals: Create tangible prototypes or detailed visuals to help clients visualize the design in action. This can include 3D models, renderings, or physical mock-ups that allow them to experience the concept firsthand. Use Real-World Applications: Present examples of similar designs successfully implemented in the industry. Discuss how those designs solved specific problems or improved processes, reinforcing the feasibility of your concept.

Selling an industrial design concept means you have failed. This means your discovery and your strategy phases were just presentations and had no tangible impact. The concept is nothing but a direct result of your strategy sessions and you would not need to convince a client on the subjective matters of design, because that means you are not an expert at that point. You are the antithesis of artificial intelligence, offering fewer options, less variation, and showing less skill. The notion of convincing clients has to go first of all. If you understand the problem you are solving and if you make sure damn well that the client knows it too. You both win this battle. Else it’s a never ending finger pointing and unnecessary stress

A good design speaks for itself & is apparent to a smart client when presented even without frills & pompous PPTs. Extraneous design needs convincing & selling & is often bought unwittingly by frivolous folks.

Prototyping is key. With digital engineering technology becoming better, more integrated and more affordable, the goal should be to sped up design iteration,whilst keeping cost low before moving to physical / scaled prototypes. But this means stakeholders have to be also educated in how to review and assess design in a digital context, and the benefits of doing that.

The practicality should be self evident in the design. Make sure to provide clarity in all that you are presenting so that the client doesn't have to ask unnecessary questions.

More than designing, presenting the design and usage of our product is more important. Practicality and design feasibility make design perfect. So while pitching we have to focus on the primary purpose of the product and how our product makes it. More complicated and extra advanced designs can make usage difficult and it causes negative impressions in pitching.
