Communicate extensively with you client in the beginning and make sure they understand exactly what you will deliver. Misunderstandings and lack of communication can create problems down the line too which you haven't allocated time. Create a minimum viable product so that all potential problems can be addressed early and then fine tune things at the end. This will prevent you from spending too much time at a certain milestone and you will get a better outlook on how much time you can spend on finer details.

I start by asking myself what is preventing me from meeting deadlines! Am I overcomplicating a simple task? Am I taking on too many tasks that I could delegate to someone else? Have I broken a long term task into small and simple tasks? After I go through all those questions I typically see where my problem lies - which is typically overcomplicating a task. Then after that I talk to my co-workers and friends to see if there's any way I can simplify tasks! Also making sure I am taking care of my health typically helps! Sleep, Food, Water, Medicine. Making sure I take care of the essentials provides the foundation for the rest of my day!
