I think it doesn't matter what project you handle, if you don't priorities your work don't set realistic targets or don't delegate the work burnout will happen. I always focus on handling the projects keeping my health at top priority so, if you want to prevent burnouts you need to understand "You can't do everything alone and you have a personal life which needs the balance"

All work and no play makes a man slow n sluggish is what I beleive in!!Every tough project should have a good interplay or mix of team activities,rejuvenation plans and recouping schedules.The stringent project targets and milestones should be interspersed with refreshing breaks from work but at work with work ,for more work happily!!A project team is like a family,the leader knows the bright and the dark streaks of each team member and so it rests upon the leader to give the requisite breaks from work to each team member in a way that best rejuvenates the member to get back with more zeal and enthusiasm!!Work can be best executed when there is a stress free environment and work is not onerous rather ravishing for one and all in the team!!

Delegate tasks where possible, even if it’s handing over minor parts of the project to junior engineers or colleagues. Project Management Tools: Use tools like Asana, Trello, or even Gantt charts to track timelines and avoid last-minute scrambles. Knowing where you are in the process can reduce stress and help you manage peak times better. Set Boundaries: When projects intensify, it’s easy to let work spill into personal time. Setting clear boundaries, like sticking to certain hours for intensive work and having time for breaks, can help maintain a work-life balance.

The burn out do not happen due to work load or its proper management but due to lot of reiterations to produce final design. There for it is necessary to hv experienced team and requirements are understood properly and design produced in least number of reiterations. Knowledge of codes rules and regulations do helps in best design suited to specific jobs. Challenging job and innovation in design also helps in less burn out and designer enjoy their job.

I consider essential to prioritize communication. Most of the work-burns come out because of engineers are scared to communicate their limits and ultimately this is the biggest limit leading to burnout

Time Management, Cost Management, Drawing Management & Quality Management are key functions for any projects. You don't have to worry about work load , you just have to manage it in such a way that progress of work does not affect by any hurdles.
