During critical phases, addressing conflicts openly is essential to restore focus. I initiate a transparent dialogue where everyone shares their perspectives, then steer attention toward the shared goal. It’s crucial not to ignore conflicts but to resolve them constructively, rebuilding trust and motivation. Clear communication, mutual respect, and a unifying purpose are key to stabilizing dynamics and moving the team forward.

Knowing your teammates - especially in things like how and when to approach them - is crucial at a time like this, since you can be at least positioned enough to explore different avenues to motivate them. Organize that knowledge by enlisting things about them in terms of the project you're working on (what their goals are, what do they want from it and more). At some point, you may notice patterns that bind them together, such as similar goals and what they like or hate most. You can then use those patterns to create strategies that bring them together like tackling a certain issue together, set a reward that motivates them to be together or even create/find a trust exercise that everyone can do together.

Strong leadership and teamwork will be critical to ensure a positive outcome overall. Finding common ground and reminding everyone of the goals will help, as well as working together and finding ways to build trust and open up discussions in a healthy way.
