What do you do if your leadership style needs improvement based on feedback?

I seek opportunities to refine my approach by receiving mentorship, attending leadership development programs, or seeking feedback from trusted colleagues.

In my journey so far, I've encountered this situation quite often. Despite working hard and striving to be a good leader, people sometimes focus on providing feedback, which can lead to frustration. However, I've come to see this as a valuable learning opportunity. It's important to take feedback as a way to improve and address areas that need attention. Rating your performance based on this feedback can provide valuable insights from different perspectives, enhancing learning and understanding various viewpoints.

That would be a gut punch and will take humility however it presents a real opportunity to grow. You will have to take an honest look at yourself to identify your gaps and improve. The first thing to do is examine the feedback and validate it through trusted resources if available. After you identify the gaps, you will need to determine what growth and success look like and set a road map to get from where you are at to where you want to go. This could involve formal education, informal education, mentors, observing or even just changing your attitude and approach.

Firstly we should be flexible enough to take positive feedback from anyone. Constructive criticism is necessary for one for grow. - Listen to feedback and try to comprehend it. - Try to inculcate those pointers in how you are leading the team. - Ask your teammates to give feedback after you are implementing the previous feedback pointers.

One should also evaluate the given situation, along with feedback received to judge and decide which are not in their control and act accordingly. As long as you are conscious about your decisions don't pick the feedback from criticism.

The reality is, we all need to receive feedback and should in fact encourage it. We are not perfect, no matter how much we tell ourselves this. The ability to receive feedback and take it on board reflects a very mature and selfless leader who is willing to improve how they are perceived by their teams by accepting and acting positively on feedback.

Some people simply aren't ready or capable of leading or commanding others. If you get constant poor feedback from your teams, it's probably time to re-assess your capabilities and consider moving on to a different capacity. That is cold, hard truth.

Review most the top political "leaders" of our present human world. Ask ye-selves if "sickness" is now a synonym of "leadership". Again, you desire be leader? Why? Motivations? Do you have circumspection where YOU as developing human animal going, travelling while absorbing ongoing learning experience? Do not we all know where we be ultimately going, final destination. Secondly, any natural leader would use term "prosperity" rather than progressiveness", as all ancient cultures with a functional ETHOS once upon a time did.

Find a common language/framework ie What do they mean by “style”, what else could they have meant? Relationships - be curious about others and always seek to understand them first before being understood. Always embrace your unique style whilst flexing it to influence others.
