Breaking larger goals into actionable steps and aligning daily tasks with them helps maintain progress. Leveraging tools to streamline workflows allows more room for forward-thinking and proactive strategies.

When the daily tasks feel insurmountable, it is all the more important to carve out the time for strategy. Use time-blocking if necessary and make it an unshakeable block in your day if that's what it needs. Delegate routine tasks to good team members to free you up for the big-picture thinking that you need to do, not at the expense of the immediate responsibilities.

I am an early bird. So, I focus on strategic work by scheduling 1-2 hours of uninterrupted "deep work" time each morning, before getting caught up in daily operations. I delegate routine tasks to my team (or try to). Monthly strategy reviews help ensure we stay aligned with long-term goals while managing day-to-day priorities.

A merger of traditional management matrix with modern concept is helping me with since long. List down the tasks & categories it as below. - Important & Urgent - Important but not Urgent - Urgent but not important - Not Urgent or Important - Set timelines on each categorized task and identify if deadline is approaching how soon. - Connect to stakeholder and buy time if required and if possible - Tools and technologies may help you out to get it done efficiently - Allocate tasks to your co-workers if that's possible

I would do a personal time management audit using the Eisenhower Matrix. In other words I would list all of the current tasks that I have under 4 areas: 1. Tasks that are Urgent and Important. 2. Tasks that are not urgent but neverthless important. 3. Tasks that seem urgent but which are not important. 4. Tasks that are nether urgent or important. I would start by deleting all of the tasks in Category 4, I would then delegate as many of the tasks as possible from Category 3. I would deal with tasks from category 1 ummediaitely myself. Last but not least I would then plan the necessary time to work on category three which is where the strtegic planning process takes place on more long term goals.

The use of automation can resolve some challenges relating to the completion of tasks and your scheduling/prioritisation. Often in a working week there are areas within our responsibility that can be covered or merged within other business functions. Work with the broader team at you organisation to explore if you can save time for multiple people by applying new processes and merging responsibilities.

Categorise your tasks into high, medium and low priority. Delegate anything that doesn't solely need to be completed by you if team members are free Time block your remaining tasks based on their priority. Set time in your calendar to time block also to ensure you can do it effectively, each week.

Keep first things first. When you reach Friday and wonder why another week has flown by without you dedicating time to strategic planning and other top priorities, it is a sign of a weak weekly (and daily) routine. Rely on stronger systems rather than to-dos. Set a block of time on your calendar for Strategic Planning like you would any other meeting, then make sure to keep that meeting, even if it is you letting calls go to vm while you focus on longer term priorities. It is easy to feel like you're getting a lot done by responding quickly to incoming messages, but it is a loss for the company (and your career advancement) if you are doing so at the expense of higher priorities and responsibilities.
