1) Flexible production schedules, I agree that reducing OT and shorter work hours, keep up on PM and keep the best / most productive and trained individuals busy and employed. 2) I am not a fan of JIT, and people sitting doing nothing until parts show up... All most all components of size and complexity should be less than 250 miles from plan, keep stock on hand as well as spare components to keep line running. 3) Don't just depend on spreadsheet jockeys, data can be misconstrued to say many unproductive things... Common sense is unfortunately uncommon...
