In some projects depending on the layout, and the height, advanced modelling or scenario analysis will be required. This may seem to lead to a delay and you may be asked to clarify which is fair. In addition, It is important to be able to highlight what you want to achieve and which part of this study is a must and which part is not, a good example is value engineering which may be waived if time is more important. Furthermore, fair communication allows people to understand the situation and make a decision, they may not have an interest in value engineering due to time limitations, however, if it is about safety you need to provide a brief of these issues and related risks and you should be able to stand for it

It depends on the type of client. Some are professional builders who want "most economical" design. They are least concerned about your expertise , methodology or state of art. They calculate the steel required/m2 of the project builtup area. It should not exceed their own perception or should not exceed that of earlier executed projects Secondly they concentrate on the diameters of bars used & happy if lower diameter is used (regardless of no of bars). They will compare it to another designer who has done it 8 bars of 16 instead of 6 bars of 20. Many builders shun seismic design for standard lower buildings. If you cannot truly convince them of their concerns, you are OUT for next project. This is a situation in country like India.
