What do you do if your engineering team lacks creativity?

I've found it useful if the team may have a frequent brief at the beginning of the day. Or at least they could have a session among the team members once a week. The leader could obtain the ideas from the team members and at the same time foster leadership and set the direction.

I find it hard to believe that people in engineering lack creativity as a hard trait. You don't get through engineering training without a lot of creative problem-solving! I’ve found that it’s difficult to think out the box when that’s all you’ve known or you’re stuck in a certain paradigm. A fresh set of eyes and clear outside perspective can prompt the whole team to think differently. Pugh method elects a compromise solution as reference solution and tries to better the other solutions where they are worse than the reference one. It increases gradually the number of specifications Analyzed. TRIZ tries to eliminates the need for a compromise solution, by eliminating contradictory requirements through creative solutions. It has 5 complementary methodologies to find such solutions. By organizing the search, the idea that there is no solution is avoided.
