Firstly is affirming them that it is a natural inclination to be hesitant to delete as they first need to understand the role and their actual job first so that they are able to provide support should the delegated task not go as planned especially in the beginning stages. The message is first find your footing and understand the task well and thereafter be in a position to delegate it. Understand that you are developing leaders around you so that you can position them for success or promotion one day. This is a true measure of leadership success.

These wise words are the secret that helps emerging leaders rise above their current job and get a new perspective, that as long as they want to bring their greatest value to the organization, they need to know what that value IS. As a leader of teams, you can encourage team members to delegate by not telling them to do so, but teaching them how. Give them the mindset to keep what they excel at and delegate the rest. Teach them HOW to delegate. Help them understand WHO is available to receive the tasks, reminding them that this gives others opportunities, too. Acknowledge the effort and support the process by checking in along the way. Celebrate when your team member(s) deliver big!
