  • ARRIVE & DRIVE | Congratulations to AJ, from US! 🇺🇸🎉 AJ's insights: 🟢 What’s your best driving test advice/tip for fellow expats?! 😎 Would be for sure to relax.... the test giver isn't looking for you to make mistakes... he also doesn't want you to make them. Just drive like you are alone and the way your instructor taught you and all will be fine. 🟢 Can you po int out the major differences between driving in the Dutch style and driving back in your homeland? Oh man.... driving back in the states is so different I would not even know where to start. The speed limits, the signs, Road rules and regulations, and even the overall mentality of regular drivers. 🟢 What are some of the funniest disparities you've noticed between the two nations? Uncontrolled junctions/intersections are just crazy to me! It's like the 🤠Wild West of western Europe. 🤣 🟢 Last but certainly not least: How was your overall experience, and what benefits did you find in the Arrive & Drive expat program? The program was great. Everything is explained clearly with reasoning and patience. Also explained why this is like this or this is like that. Very friendly staff and quality all around. Anke is just a delight! Still need to do my pilots 🛫 license with her! 😉 LEARN MORE 👉 https://lnkd.in/ec2dmY9j #arrivedriveNL #theorycollegeNL #rbwe #dutchdrivinglicense #cbr #expatsinthenetherlands #americansinthenetherlands

  • ARRIVE & DRIVE | Congratulations to Luisa, from Colombia! 🇨🇴🎉 Luisa's insights: 🔵 My best driving test tip is to ALWAYS look 👀 over your shoulder when turning, changing lanes or any lateral movements. It doesn’t matter if you know there is nothing there or just a tree🎄, JUST LOOK before you do anything! 🔵 Most of my live I’ve been driving in Colombia and the U.S., and the biggest difference is the amount of pedestrians🚶🏼🚲 and bicycles and how they are part of traffic here. 🔵 Getting a license in Colombia 🇨🇴 is extremely easy, in the U.S., the exams are much easier than here, for the theory the questions are very easy and the practice exam I did it in closed course in the DMV, so I didn’t have to account for other traffic which is the hard part. Also, a big difference is that they don’t care if you go slower as long as you don’t go above the speed limit, while here is ok to be a few km's over the speed limit if it allows better flow of traffic, so that made me look slow and unsure when I didn’t do it. And also, you don’t have to take lessons there! 🔵 I think overall it was a very positive experience. I liked the focus on experienced drivers in adapting our driving to the dutch style. The main benefit was having to take less lessons and focused on the specific aspects to improve. 🔗 LEARN MORE 👉 https://lnkd.in/ec2dmY9j #arrivedriveNL #theorycollegeNL #rbwe #dutchdrivinglicense #CBR #expatsinthenetherlands #Maastricht #MaastrichtUniversity

  • ARRIVE & DRIVE | Congratulations to Jessica Cullen, from Canada! 🇨🇦🎉 Jessica's insights: 🟢 What’s your best driving test advice/tip for fellow expats?! Focus your efforts on understanding the differences in priority (understanding the theory and how it feels in practice) in Dutch driving contexts. 🟢 Can you point out the major differences between driving in the Dutch style and driving back in your homeland? Hands-down, it's the prevalence of uncontrolled intersections. In Canada there are many more instances of stop signs 🛑 at intersections, where priority (in my mind) is clear. Internalizing your right to go first takes some getting used to, as in Canada we drive defensively. Here, Dutch drivers maintain the flow of traffic by driving assertively - perhaps this is simply a function of the availability of space. Also the merge lanes are strikingly short. Initially it was quite terrifying to accelerate with the merge lane quickly disappearing. 🟢 What are some of the funniest disparities you've noticed between the two nations? When I renewed my British Columbia driver's license a few years ago, the theory test consisted of ten easy questions. It takes a week of studying to pass a theory test here... and I have four university degrees. 🟢 Last but certainly not least: How was your overall experience, and what benefits did you find in the Arrive & Drive expat program? It took me several attempts to pass the Dutch practical exam. It was a struggle, with each test failing. My anxiety grew with each test, additional lessons, and different instructors. Arrive & Drive instructors were patient and helped to get to the bottom of my triggers, address fears, and adjust mistakes I make as a result of years of driving habit formation on Canadian roads. • ARRIVE & DRIVE | Congratulations to Raj Kumar Muniyandi from India! 🇮🇳🎉 Raj's insights: 🟢 My best tip is: Look before doing anything! You don’t have to drive beautifully, you just have to drive safe. 🟢 The major differences between driving in the Dutch style and driving back in India 🇮🇳: Priority rules are one the major changes in the Netherlands which is not so used in my home country. Off course cyclists and Fatbikes are inevitable here. 🟢 Funniest disparities I've noticed: Quite a lot of traffic signs here! The road almost tell us everything if we observe. In my home country we don’t have this many signs and is more of a reactive driving behaviour with respect to others. And there are no special manuvers in the driving exam in my home country. 😂 🟢 I had good experience overall. The one day crash course gives the basics for the classes. And if the basics are right the classes go very smoothly. It helped me a lot to pass my exam in the first attempt. • ARRIVE & DRIVE | Congratulations to Josuè Amador from México! 🇲🇽🎉 Josué's insights: 🔵 Best driving advice for expats: Go to Anke! Don't waste your time and money with schools that will tell you what you want to hear just to keep you in the loop. Passing the practical test is not only about your driving skills but many other little details that experience drivers are not always aware of. At Arrive & Drive they will help you with that and in a very short period of time.💨 I wish I knew about LesDirect's Arrive & Drive programme much earlier. 🔵 Major differences in driving: In México we prioritize common sense over regulation, while in the Netherlands, it feels the other way around. This creates advantages and disadvantages. 👍🏼👎🏼 In general, it seems easier to drive in NL. Although the bureaucracy behind getting a license makes it really hard. 🔵 Disparities: in México everybody drives because distances are larger than in NL. We don't go to driving schools, we learn from a friend or family member. So its mot standardized. Getting a license is very easy and cheap. We just don't see it as a big thing, but as a basic necessity. 🔵😆Funny thing: in México we tend to think of "rules" as "suggestions". For example, cars rarely stop before a zebra path. This drives me crazy now when I go back there. 🔵 Overall experience: The practical test became a nightmare for me. I failed many times for the most ridiculous reasons. Thanks to the Arrive Drive program, I finally got my license. 💯 They really know how to help you drive the way they expect you to do it during the exam. Driving with them was also fun and enjoyable. Thank you, guys! CURIOUS?! 👉 https://lnkd.in/ec2dmY9j #arrivedriveNL #theorycollegeNL #rbwe #dutchdrivinglicense #CBRexam #expatsinthenetherlands #CappelleadIjssel

  • ARRIVE & DRIVE | Congratulations to Guilherme, from Brazil! 🇧🇷🎉 Guilherme's insights: 🟢 My best advise is to drive like you already know and adapting to the Dutch standards might be the best way. Normal driving according to local rules is the best way. 🚦🇳🇱 🟢 The biggest differences are that Dutch standards require more attention, and all drivers are very loyal to the basic rules. 🟢 The difference that took me longer to adapt to is that in Dutch standards you check if you’re free to go before signaling. ✅➡️ Where I come from the rules say the first thing to do is signal and only afterwards check and go. Also, the driving exam in my country requires drivers to learn maneuvers and procedures that are never used in real life situations, only for the exam. 🟢 Although it took a bit longer than I first thought it would, I had a pretty smooth development and had a very good support. 🤝✨ LEARN MORE 👉 https://lnkd.in/ec2dmY9j #arrivedriveNL #theorycollegeNL #rbwe #dutchdrivinglicense #CBRexam #expatsinthenetherlands

  • ARRIVE & DRIVE | Congratulations to Madalin, from Moldova! 🇲🇩🎉 Madalin's insights you’ll love! 🧡 "I had the privilege of learning from two fantastic driving schools—LesDirect and Rijschool PB—and I couldn’t be more grateful for the support I received from my incredible instructors: Lieke, Anke and Pieter.
