[NEWS] Elysian and SLIP JV Announce Oxfordshire IRC Senior Living Investment Partners (SLIP) and Elysian Residences have unveiled plans for a new 100-unit integrated retirement community (IRC) in Henley-on-Thames, Oxfordshire. 🏡✨ The development, funded through SLIP’s joint venture with Elysian, will feature a mix of one to three-bedroom homes and amenities such as a café, bistro, gym, swimming pool, wellness areas, and residents’ lounges. It is the third Elysian project backed by SLIP and the fifth within Octopus Real Estate’s Retirement Living funds. 🌱💼 Mathilde Guittard of Octopus Real Estate emphasized the community's focus on sustainability and health benefits for older residents, while Max Cawthorn of PIC Capital highlighted the project’s role in addressing underfunding in the senior living sector. Elysian CEO Gavin Stein expressed pride in meeting the growing demand for retirement communities and integrating into the Henley-on-Thames community. [NEWS] East London mixed-use plans resubmitted 🏗️🌳🏠 Ballymore and Howells Architects have resubmitted plans for the UNEX development in East London. The proposals include 3,300+ homes (615 affordable), coliving suites, workspaces, retail, community spaces, and green areas, transforming the Thames Road and Knights Road sites. Ballymore MD John Mulryan called it a chance to expand on the success of Royal Wharf, with construction expected to begin next year pending approval. [NEWS] Greystar acquires Australian PBSA portfolio Greystar has bought an Australian PBSA portfolio from Singapore property group Wee Hur and sovereign fund GIC. 🇦🇺🏢 Greystar has made its first entry into the Australian Purpose-Built Student Accommodation (PBSA) sector by acquiring a portfolio of 5,500 beds for A$1.6 billion. The assets, located across Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide, and Canberra, expand Greystar’s Asia-Pacific assets under management to $4 billion. Adam Pillay, Greystar’s Executive Director for Asia Pacific, highlighted the strong demand in Australia's student housing sector, driven by world-class education institutions and an undersupply of high-quality housing. Wee Hur retains a 13% stake in the portfolio. Wee Ping Goh, CEO of Wee Hur Capital, described the deal as a strategic move that maximized value for investors. [NEWS] Edinburgh PBSA Plans Refused Local planners have rejected a proposal to convert the vacant Finance House building in Edinburgh into a 300-bed purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA) complex. 🚫🏢 The plan by Finance Development LLP included 300 student beds, 65 residential units, coworking spaces, and amenities like a gym and study areas. Despite 43 letters of support, 147 objections were received, including from the Stockbridge and Inverleith Community Council. Officials cited non-compliance with local development plans, noting the project failed to meet required housing quotas and violated Policy Hou5 due to insufficient residential use of the 0.25-hectare site. [NEWS] Capital&Centric launches Ollo brand for BTR portfolio Developer Capital&Centric has launched Ollo, a new management company for its growing Build-to-Rent (BTR) portfolio. Ollo will debut at the Eyewitness Works development in Sheffield, offering high-quality apartments with sustainable Scandi HAY furniture. 🏢✨ The development will include amenities like coworking spaces, gyms, resident lounges, and pet-friendly outdoor areas. An on-site team will provide services such as cleaning and pet sitting, and the Ollo app will connect residents for social events and maintenance requests. Ollo’s future plans include developments in Stoke-on-Trent, Bolton, and Stockport in 2025.
