With food waste contributing to nearly 10% of global greenhouse gas emissions, the International Day of Awareness of Food Loss and Waste Reduction is a crucial reminder for everyone to take action against climate change and hunger. At Shangri-La The Shard, London, their commitment lies in offering guests safe, nutritious, and delicious dining options while emphasising sustainable sourcing methods. Since they initiated their Rooted in Nature program in 2014, they have adopted a thorough approach to assessing their supply chain, prioritising partnerships with local suppliers and promoting awareness about how food choices affect our communities.
Committing to Reduce Food Waste Today and Every Day With food waste estimated to be responsible for up to 10% of global greenhouse gas emissions, the International Day of Awareness of Food Loss and Waste Reduction is a timely reminder of how we can all contribute to tackling the climate crisis and preventing hunger. At Shangri-La The Shard, London we want our guests to savour safe, healthy, and delicious food, and we’re committed to sourcing it sustainably. Since 2014, our Rooted in Nature programme has enabled us to review our sustainable supply chain holistically, including sourcing from local suppliers, and raising awareness about how food choices impact local communities. This UN-led Day brings an opportunity for each of us to consider a key way in which we can help meet the Sustainable Development Goals, achieve national climate targets, and realise the vision of a world without malnutrition. #ShangriLa #ESG #DoGood #InternationalDayofAwarenessofFoodLossandWasteReduction #Sustainability #Savour
