  • 🎉 Hogmanay 2024 – Amy Irons is bringing the party to Scotland’s most iconic night of the year! The Hogmanay Show kicks off at 11:30pm on BBC Scotland and BBC One Scotland as Amy Irons ramps up the excitement for the countdown to 2025. Viewers can expect a proper party with musical performances from Marti Pellow, Rianne Downey, and Skipinnish, plus Georgia Cécile will join Skipinnish for a heartwarming rendition of Auld Lang Syne to ring in the New Year.   • 📢 BBC News Scotland is launching two new titles to join its news and current affairs portfolio in January 2025. 📺 Reporting Scotland: News at Seven Starting Monday, 6 January, this new 30-minute week-night news programme will air on the BBC Scotland channel. Presented by Laura Maciver and Amy Irons, it will bring stories from the BBC’s newsrooms across Scotland, focusing on the people at the heart of communities and providing analysis and discussion of the day’s biggest news. 🎙️ Scotcast Launching Monday, 13 January, this brand-new current affairs podcast hosted by Martin Geissler will bring insight, analysis, conversation and a bit of humour to the stories that audiences are talking about. Filmed in Glasgow and locations in the North East of Scotland, Only Child features domestic and inter-generational differences and neighbourly squabbles, all told through the lens of Richard and Ken’s comedic relationship. Commissioned by BBC Comedy and BBC Scotland, Only Child is made by Scotland-based production company Happy Tramp North.   • 📢 Sir Alex, a new two-part documentary from BBC Scotland and BBC Sport, is coming to BBC iPlayer on Boxing Day! Sir Alex looks at the incredible life and career of the most decorated football manager in British history. Football fans can watch both episodes on 1 and 2 January on the BBC Scotland channel.   • 🎬 Richard Gadd and Jamie Bell to star in new BBC drama Half Man! Created by Richard Gadd, the original series is set to begin filming in Scotland in 2025. Half Man is produced by Mam Tor Productions for the BBC and BBC Scotland in a co-production with HBO. The story follows estranged ‘brothers’ Niall (Jamie Bell) and Ruben (Richard Gadd). When Ruben shows up unexpectedly at Niall’s wedding, it leads to an explosion of violence that catapults the audience back through their lives. Louise Thornton, Head of Commissioning at BBC Scotland, says: “Half Man is a brilliant example of BBC Scotland’s ambition to bring high quality drama, rooted in Scotland, to audiences in Scotland, the UK and the world."   • 🎬 Only Child Preview Screening at Glasgow's Websters Theatre Last week, BBC Scotland hosted an exclusive preview screening of the new comedy series Only Child. Local audience members were treated to the first two episodes of the series alongside members of the production team. The event was hosted by broadcaster Pauline McLean, who moderated a Q&A with series stars Gregor Fisher, Greg McHugh, and writer Bryce Hart. The two leads reflected on their experience working on the production, their admiration for Bryce's script, and how they personally connect with their roles.   • 📢 The BBC have recommissioned BAFTA award-winning comedy series Dinosaur! The new six-part series starring Ashley Storrie will commence production in 2025. At the BAFTA Scotland Awards on Sunday 17 November 2024, the series won Writer Film/Television for Ashley Storrie and Matilda Curtis whilst Ashley Storrie also took home the Audience Award: Favourite Scot on Screen. The Agency: Unfiltered, Catching a Killer: The Murder of Emma Caldwell, Not Your Average Family, Dinosaur, and Float triumphed in their categories. We'd also like to congratulate Doon MacKichan who picked up the Actress Television award for her return to Two Doors Down and to Hazel Irvine for winning the Outstanding Contribution to Television award.   • ✨ Last night, BBC Scotland hosted a special preview screening of the new comedy series Only Child at Websters Theatre in Glasgow.
