As many of us start to wind-down for the very welcome festive break, I wanted to highlight some of the incredible work our teams have delivered for the Christmas and New Year period. We’ve made over 35 TV and radio shows for the BBC, but also for other broadcasters and streamers. From today on Apple TV+ you can catch The Secret Lives of Animals, a new 10-part series from our Natural History Unit narrated by Hugh Bonneville, showcasing the ingenuity and never-before-seen animal behaviour of 77 unique species in 24 countries. The NHU have also produced a one-off BBC Two special for Boxing Day - Expedition Killer Whale – capturing the astonishing hunting techniques of these mammals in Antarctica. Look out for a seasonal Casualty this Saturday that takes a slight detour from its usual format to highlight the emotional impact of blood donation, featuring real-life accounts. Earlier that evening Strictly Come Dancing: 20 Fabulous Years showcases the most memorable dances, talks to former contestants and even some of our production team without who, none of the ballroom magic would be possible. For Christmas Eve we’ve produced two carol programmes: Carols from King’s –an almost 100-year-old staple of the BBC’s festive broadcast schedule and Royal Carols: Together at Christmas for ITV, supported by The Royal Foundation and hosted by the Princess of Wales, honouring individuals across the UK who have shown extraordinary kindness and compassion in their communities. Our eagerly anticipated perennial treats for the big day itself – Strictly Come Dancing, Doctor Who, EastEnders and Mrs Brown’s Boys – form the backbone of BBC One’s Christmas Day offering – bringing millions of families together. As if that wasn’t enough, we’ll ensure you ring in 2025 in style with Jool’s Annual Hootenanny, plus Sophie Ellis Bextor’s New Year’s Eve Disco - which leads into (and continues after) New Year’s Eve Fireworks as the clocks strike midnight. Other specials to look out for include Inside the Factory, The Weakest Link, Countryfile: Christmas at Highgrove, Sister Boniface (UKTV), Inside No. 9, Amazing Hotels: Life Beyond the Lobby, Lucy Worsley Investigates, Antiques Roadshow, Gardeners’ World and Morning Live. And for younger viewers there’s The Primrose Railway Children and the beloved CBeebies Panto: Beauty & The Beast. Not to be outdone, our Audio Unit have Desert Island Discs with Gareth Southgate, Off the Telly (Gavin & Stacey) and Strong Message Here (Words of the Year 2024) specials on Christmas and Boxing Day respectively - and a Best of the News Quiz 2024. Internationally, we’ll see Christmas specials for Ghosts (CBS), 100% Logique in France as well as Bake Off specials in France, Sweden and Denmark. My enormous gratitude to all our teams across Scripted, Global Entertainment, Factual, Kids & Family and Audio for putting together this entertainment feast and may I wish you all a happy holidays and a peaceful and productive new year.

What a great month it’s been for #Bluey! 💙 We’ve rounded up some of her biggest moments over the last few weeks. Read them below! ⬇️ Starting off with the iconic Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, the Bluey balloon returned for her third year after making her debut in 2022. New this year, Bluey and her Keepy Uppy Balloon were joined by Grannies Rita and Janet (played by Bluey’s little sister Bingo and their cousin Muffin) who rolled into the Parade in their very own Grannies’ Car. 🤩 We also launched the first ever Bluey’s World in Brisbane – one of the largest and most ambitious immersive events to be staged in Australia. This unique experience for families and fans includes amazing sets and interactive games and activities for children and adults alike, encapsulating the spirit of the series and encouraging creative play and connection. In the UK, Bluey took to the Strictly dance floor for a Children in Need Special and it was FAB-BLUE_LOUS! She was the star of the show as she flaunted her jive moves alongside the professional dancers to raise money for the Children in Need appeal. 🪩 Finally Bluey’s trophy cabinet has been expanding – she has won a host of awards recently including five Lovie Awards, Progressive Preschool Award for Best Licensed Toy Range for Shake It Bluey, Best Children’s Album at ARIA Awards for Bluey ‘Dance Mode’ and the 2024 Toy & Game International Excellence (TAGIE) Award for “Most Innovative License of the Year” for the Bluey Keepy Uppy and Bluey Hide and Seek games in the U.S. Bluey has also been announced as one of 45 app finalists by Apple for the 2024 App Store Awards and Bluey has earned three nominations at the 2025 Kidscreen Awards and two nominations for Toy of the Year (TOTY) Awards in the US! 🤩 It really has been a great month for Bluey! Well done to all involved. 👏 #BBCStudios #LudoStudios #ABCAustralia Ludo Studio Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC)
