We are here to develop, inspire, and promote young people in rail. Join us and build a network to unlock your career!

About us

The Professional Network for Young People in the Rail Industry Young Rail Professionals was founded in 2009 to bring together young people from across the global railway industry, starting with young members from across the UK’s railway related institutions. It has rapidly expanded, and continues to grow as young people join the industry and get involved with the YRP from both the UK, Europe and across the globe. As railways experience a great time of growth and investment, it is more important than ever that strong relationships across organisations are built, and best practice shared across the world through a vibrant, dynamic network, making the most of social media and tapping into the skills of rail’s young and enthusiastic employees. YRP organises networking events designed both to inspire and to entertain, with a now infamous annual Black Tie Dinner event, drawing hundreds of young professionals together for a great evening of networking and relationship development. YRP also runs an INTOrail programme, providing opportunities to its members to visit schools, colleges and universities to attract the next generation into this dynamic industry.

  • Back in October, YRP L&SE hosted its first-ever 'Transport Challenge' which entailed a fun hunt across London’s transport network in a custom themed challenge. The theme of this challenge was Bingo, teams were tasked with visiting randomly selected stations and lines within the five hour time limit. 🚂 Congratulations to the winning team ‘This Team’s Name Is Delayed To Regulate Service Patterns’ who achieved the most lines on the Bingo card and earned an exclusive YRP winners pin badge! 🥳 A special mention also goes to the other teams for their impressive efforts: Falcon Warriors, The Overgrounders, Severe Delays, and AtkinsRailis. A special thank you to Ryan Hill for organising and delivering this fantastic event, and to the YRP volunteers who came along to support. We look forward to running it again next year! 🤩
