Many congratulations on your MSc - and we look forward to hearing what you decide to do next. #wcib #mansionhousescholarshipscheme
I’m proud to share that I’ve officially graduated with an MSc in Agricultural Economics from the University of Reading. This incredible achievement would not have been possible without the support of the Chevening Awards and the Mansion House Scholarship Scheme. A am especially proud to have been the first Senegalese scholar to benefit from the Mansion House Scholarship Scheme. It gave me a unique chance to connect with London’s business and finance ecosystem, especially through an honorary membership with the Worshipful Company of International Bankers and incredible mentorship opportunities. These life changing opportunities have opened the doors to the university of Reading—a world-class institution renowned for its expertise in agriculture, environment, and food systems. Looking back, 2024 has been nothing short of transformative. It’s hard to put into words just how much this journey has meant to me and how many rewarding experiences it bought. It wasn’t just about academics—it was a deeply personal experience of growth, resilience, and self-discovery. My time at the university of Reading gave me more than just technical knowledge about local and global food systems. It challenged me to think critically, question norms, and explore the complex interconnections between food security, consumer behaviour, sustainability, and data-driven decision-making. But the real highlight of this journey was the incredible community I found at Reading. I was surrounded by inspiring individuals from all over the world whose resilience and determination left a lasting impact on me. Every conversation, challenge, and shared success taught me something new and shaped me in ways I never expected. As I reflect on this experience, I feel more confident than ever in my ability to contribute to the sustainable development of global food systems. Now the next big question is: what’s next? One thing I know for sure is that I’ll keep my love of learning alive, just as the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Reading emphasized in his speech during the graduation ceremony. And honestly, there’s nothing more exciting than the possibilities that lie ahead. #MyCheveningJourney #UorAlumni #MHSC
