  • Long-term sickness is at a 20-year high, and our latest findings reveal the top causes: 1️ Depression, mental illness, or anxiety – 27% 2️ Musculoskeletal issues – 23% 3️ Other health problems or disabilities – 15% The rise in long-term absences is driven by a combination of factors. Long NHS wait times and a lack of access to early treatment are escalating conditions before people can get help. This cycle leads to more workplace absence, presenteeism, and burnout. While many employers offer mental health support, it’s not always effective—1 in 10 people took more than 10 days off work in 2023 due to poor mental health. So what can businesses do? Investing in preventative healthcare, offering better mental health support, and tackling musculoskeletal conditions head-on are key to breaking this cycle and supporting employees’ long-term health. Discover more insights in our 2025 Wellbeing Trends report — it covers key issues like shaping employee health, budget pressures, long-term sickness and more: https://bit.ly/3P73K1z

  • Giving Back: 2024 Wrapped 🎉 At Westfield Health, we’re committed to making a healthy difference in the world around us. 🌍 This year, our focus on health, wellbeing, and social responsibility has helped us: ✅ Donate over £100,000 to 45 incredible causes. ✅ Deliver life-saving defibrillators to workplaces, schools, and community centres across the UK. ✅ Volunteer 400+ hours of time and skills to local organisations. We've supported a variety of different causes from Yorkshire Air Ambulance and the The Listening Place, to DARNALL DEMENTIA TRUST and The Children's Hospital Charity. And that’s not all. 💪 From volunteering at Sheffield Mencap & Gateway and St Luke's - Sheffield's Hospice to supporting the British Transplant Games, Dame Kelly Holmes Trust and Baton of Hope UK, our colleagues have been rolling up their sleeves and giving back through their time, energy, and expertise too. Our Westfield One Giving Back framework helps us to take action and support our colleagues and customers in the communities they live and work. ✨ Every action we take, big or small, moves us closer to a healthier, fairer, and more supportive world. 📢 Read the full blog and discover how we’ve given back this year: https://bit.ly/4foaSSa

  • Rising business costs are putting pressure on budgets, leaving leaders to make tough decisions. ⬇ . . For SMEs, the 2025 increase in the national insurance threshold adds another layer of complexity, sparking concerns about wellbeing spend, hiring freezes, and fewer pay rises. 📈 For employees, the stakes are high. With 74% of UK workers still worried about the cost of living, many are cutting back on essential health expenses like dentist visits, eye tests, and physiotherapy. This could lead to long-term effects on both health and workplace performance. 💡 But work itself can be a powerful support system. Routine, confidence, and recovery are all boosted when employees have the right support. By offering flexibility, reasonable adjustments, and an empathetic approach, businesses can help their people stay healthy and engaged. Our Group CEO, @Dave Capper also shares his insights: "When costs rise, businesses must not view wellbeing programmes as discretionary. These initiatives are a vital investment in your people’s long-term resilience, health, and productivity." — Dave Capper , CEO, Westfield Health Prioritising employee wellbeing is a smart investment—not just for individual health, but for building a resilient and productive workforce. 📖 Want to explore more insights?
