iREACH - Designing the Future of Healthcare Research Working in collaboration with Sheppard Robson, our 8,500m² design features two striking buildings, one on each side of Belfast’s Lisburn Road. One connects directly to Belfast City Hospital, while the other is dedicated to research and innovation, housing cutting-edge labs, collaborative spaces and incubators. The two buildings are linked by a bridge, creating a physical and symbolic link between clinical practice and groundbreaking research. Situated adjacent to Queen’s University’s Medical Biology campus and Belfast City Hospital, the design fosters collaboration among clinicians, researchers and innovators, enabling a seamless exchange of ideas from laboratory to patient care. Architecturally, sculptural brick podiums topped with lightweight aluminium structures balance solidity with transparency, while textured brickwork and rhythmic aluminium fins create a contemporary, urban presence reflective of its forward-looking mission. Targeting BREEAM Excellent certification, the facility combines environmental responsibility with cutting-edge functionality. Funded by the Belfast Region City Deal at Queen's University Belfast and led by Queen's University Belfast, this £39m construction contract has been awarded to @Graham with completion set for late 2026. Once operational, iREACH will house up to 360 staff, driving advancements in clinical trials and healthcare for the region and beyond.

Day 5 of #4StudiosOneTODD | Manchester | Celebrating People As we conclude our #4StudiosOneTODD campaign, we’re celebrating the incredible people who make TODD what it is. Today, we’re shining a spotlight on Will from our Manchester studio, who completed the Great North Run earlier this year, raising over £500 for Pancreatic Cancer UK. Will shares: ‘Both my brother and I are keen runners and have often talked about participating in the Great North Run together. It was a great opportunity to fulfil this ambition and to raise money for Pancreatic Cancer UK. The atmosphere was electric, with incredible support throughout the course. Thank you again to those who donated and supported me.’ This cause has resonated deeply with our team... following the loss of our colleague Ewan Cooper to pancreatic cancer earlier this year. Will's run carries even more significance, highlighting the compassion, determination and community spirit that define TODD. It’s the contributions of people like Will - both in and outside the workplace - that shape the culture and success of our practice. From running for a cause to creating remarkable architectural designs, our team members are the heart of TODD. Thank you for following along on our #4StudiosOneTODD journey. Together, our Belfast, Dublin, London and Manchester studios form one unified team, building a legacy of design excellence and community impact. #CommunityImpact #RunningForACause #ArchitecturalExcellence #PancreaticCancerUK

Edgware Road Development Receives Planning Permission After a long and complex journey, we are pleased to have received planning permission for our major mixed-use development at Staples Corner. Developed in collaboration with Contour Planning for our clients AMAFHH, this project represents a significant urban regeneration initiative in north London. The scheme features a 22-storey tower adorned with a delicate aluminium exo-skeleton, set to become a dynamic visual landmark for traffic approaching London from the M1. The development integrates essential employment spaces, a hotel, and versatile conference and community facilities. This milestone comes after extensive consultation, detailed design iterations, and persistent collaboration – a testament to the commitment of all parties involved in bringing this transformative vision to fruition. A particular thanks to Justin Mills and all at Contour Planning for managing the planning process over the past number of years. #UrbanDevelopment #LondonArchitecture #MixedUseDevelopment #PlanningApproval #SustainableDesign #UrbanRegeneration

Day 4 of #4StudiosOneTODD | Manchester | Regenerating Stalybridge Our Manchester studio is proud to unveil proposals for a new residential community within the Stalybridge West Development Area in Tameside, Greater Manchester. This innovative residential-led development is a comprehensive urban regeneration strategy that reimagines the potential of a former industrial area, carefully designed to respect the site's rich Victorian heritage while meeting contemporary housing need. The development offers a range of homes – from modern apartments to spacious family homes – thoughtfully designed to create a vibrant, inclusive community. By integrating high-quality public realm and sensitive urban design, we're creating a new neighbourhood that connects with Stalybridge's industrial past and future potential. This project for Bankfoot APAM marks our continued involvement in the evolution of Tameside and builds upon valued relationships forged through our masterplan at St Petersfield, a new MSCP on Waterloo Road and a pedestrian bridge at Stalybridge West. "This is a vitally important project that will provide much needed homes for the borough. We are delighted to be part of the team building a new community within the town centre and bringing well located brownfield land back to life" says our Manchester Studio Lead. #UrbanRegeneration #PlacemakingDesign

Havelock House: Planning Approval for Social Housing Regeneration We are pleased to announce planning permission has been secured for Havelock House, a significant social housing development on Ormeau Road, Belfast. Designed for Lotus Group and Clanmill Housing, the project will deliver 104 residential units that address critical housing needs in the city. The development provides a diverse housing mix, including family maisonettes, apartments and wheelchair-accessible units. Carefully designed to respect its surrounding context, the scheme features a graduated massing that begins at 3 storeys near existing residential neighbourhoods and sensitively steps up to 4 and 5 storeys towards Ormeau Road. This housing-led regeneration directly supports the Belfast Agenda, creating homes that will help keep the city centre and neighbourhoods vibrant and sustainable. The scheme's design prioritises external amenity spaces, strategically using site orientation and natural light to create high-quality living environments. Comprising both General Needs Social Housing and Category 1 over-55's accommodation, Havelock House represents a thoughtful approach to inclusive, community-focused urban development. #SocialHousing #UrbanRegeneration #BelfastArchitecture #AffordableHousing #CommunityDevelopment #SustainableLiving

Day 3 of #4StudiosOneTODD | Manchester | City Square House, Leeds Our Manchester studio plays a vital role in shaping TODD Architects’ vision and delivering excellence across a range of projects. Today, we celebrate the team’s contribution to one of our landmark office developments: City Square House in Leeds. This 140,000 sqft office development represents a sophisticated architectural response to Leeds city centre. The design ingeniously responds to its urban context, featuring a trapezoidal tower that emerges elegantly above a carefully integrated lower level, creating a slender frontage that compliments the historic City Square. The BREEAM Excellent design showcases Manchester team's commitment to sustainable and innovative architecture. With a limestone-faced southern elevation gently curved along Aire Street and a syncopated fenestration pattern adding visual interest, the building provides both aesthetic appeal and functional efficiency. The north-facing, fully glazed facades offer panoramic views of the city while mitigating overheating and glare concerns. Transforming urban landscapes, one project at a time. #ArchitectureExcellence #SustainableDesign #UrbanDevelopment #CommercialArchitecture #ModernOfficeSpace #LeedsArchitecture

Congratulations to all the team involved and to our talented colleagues who developed this design. The Planning approval of Havelock House for Lotus Property and Clanmil Housing Group will support delivery of 104 homes and much needed social residential units on the Ormeau Road, Belfast. This housing led regeneration aligns with the Belfast Agenda, building more homes, keeping the city centre and neighbourhoods thriving whilst making sure that everyone is actively and sustainably connected. The scheme has evolved through dialogue with the BCC Planning Team and their various consultees. The evolution of the scheme resulted in massing moves creating a scheme of relatively low scale with a significant external amenity offer which maximises use of the site orientation and associated access to light. We look forward to showcasing various aspects of the design over the coming days and for the project’s progression to site in the near future. #planning #approved #homes #BelfastAgenda #urbandesign #residential #social #livinginthecity
Whilst we hope to squeeze out a few more decision notices before Xmas - tonight was our last planning committee of 2024…. It’s been a busy few months with committees. Great to end with an approval at Belfast City Council planning committee this evening for the redevelopment of the former UTV HQ Havelock House. The scheme will deliver 104 high quality social housing units with 1/2/3 bed units for general needs and cat 1 over 55’s. With a huge waiting list across 2 housing need areas this will go a small way to providing essential homes. A partnership between Genova NW part of Lotus Property and Clanmil Housing Group it will be great to hopefully see this £25m investment on site in 2025. Well done to all involved and especially Damien Broderick from TSA who has worked collaboratively with officers Kate Bentley over the last few months to make this happen. Well done all at TSA Sarah Barrett Emma McIlwaine Dani McMillan Thomas Ellison Ross Duncan Lidia Ballocchi Claire Jones Gerry Hughes and the wider design team Nigel Murray Kastytis Donauskis Alastair Coulson Paul M. Ben Mallon Jan Sloan (sorry if I missed anyone!)

Design to foster collaboration and support emolyee wellbeing by our Interior Architecture team. A pallette of tones that was inspired by the nearby wildlife and wetlands. Thanks Joe Laverty for capturing the spaces #workplace #interiorarchitecture #fit-out
Completed office fitout at Allstate, Catalyst with Todd Architects. Credit to Joe Laverty for the brilliant photos! Inspired by the natural beauty of the nearby wildlife and wetlands, we produced a scheme and palette that not only enhances the workspace but also fosters collaboration and prioritizes employee well-being. A key feature of the design is a spacious kitchenette and all-hands area which doubles as a breakout area. The office is capable of accommodating up to 121 employees at once across sit stand desking and various flexible working stations. Also included is a large conference room, a dedicated wellness space, an 8-person meeting room, and three additional 4-person meeting rooms. The furniture for this modern and functional workspace was expertly provided by Alpha with fit out by Marcon Fit-Out.
