About us
The Female Lead is a UK-based women's empowerment charity with 8.5 million followers, created by loyalty and data entrepreneur Edwina Dunn OBE. WHO ARE WE? Our mission at The Female Lead is to empower women. We help them overcome inequalities in society and business, by dispelling gender myths through our expertise in research and data and through content, sharing the stories of successful and inspirational women. We start in the classroom by promoting self-development and role models to girls in schools. We evolve our mission to the boardroom by working with businesses to prove women are an investment, not just a tick box. And throughout their lives and careers, we give women an online community that amplifies their voices and is an unbiased champion for conversations that matter to them at every age and every stage. We are a charity that uses all income to fund our work. Sydney Sweeney – who just wrapped filming for her role as famed female boxer Christy Martin in an upcoming biopic – clapped back at internet trolls after photos of the White Lotus and Euphoria star relaxing in a bikini with (shock horror) no make-up on were circulated and criticised online. Sydney hit back at the abuse by showing a selection of comments calling her “frumpy”, “ugly” and “tubby” on her own Instagram. She didn't need to add any comment of her own, but simply cut to clips of her working hard at the gym in preparation for her role as Martin 💪👏 In 2024, how is this still where we are with talking about women's appearances?
