Recently, we had the pleasure of hosting six students and their two lecturers from the University of Chester Business School. With the UK business event industry one where future talent can be sourced from schools, colleges and universities across a number of academic and vocational disciplines, we believe it is really important to share with the next-gen work-force the breadth and width of all you can do and achieve with live events – for example, as a venue, we can offer a whole host of careers in sales, marketing, PR & communications, event management, event production (audio-visual, logistics, warehouse, rigging, electrics) cleaning, catering, security, business strategy, HR, front-of-house and finance! It was a privilege to share the history and ambitions of Telford International Centre with our visitors, highlight different and successful work entry routes with colleagues Isabelle Plain, Ellie Jones and Holly Jones, offering advice in respect of the student’s current assignments on business planning and sustainability – as well as tour the venue, seeing some events in build, live and break and taking in a behind-the-scenes look too! It resulted in some lovely feedback from lecturer Fiona Warburton, “Thank you and all of the staff at Telford International Centre for their exceptional hospitality.
