About us
Tees Active is one of the new breed of charitable leisure management organisations operating in North East England. We are passionate about the power of physical activity and believe that everyone should have equal opportunities to enjoy the abundance of health benefits associated with leading an active and healthy lifestyle. As a non-profit-distributing social enterprise, we combine the principled ethos of the public sector with the commercial agility of the private sector to provide a supportive, successful and sustainable service for future generations. Tees Active was set up with the intention of taking on the management of facilities provided by Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council and works very closely with the council as its main funding partner.

Panto fever is beginning to take over with just over 1 month until the curtain lifts for the first performance! 😲 Panto is one of the most memorable nights of the year, full of excitement, wonder, laughter and suspense, and we want everyone to be able to enjoy this magical experience. At Forum Theatre Billingham we have a relaxed and BSL Interpreted performance which may be more suited to some of our guests 👇 👉 We have a relaxed performance on Tuesday 10th December at 18:00pm - where the lights are brighter, the volume is lowered and any sudden effects are removed from the show. You still get to experience all the joys of panto but in a more relaxed environment. Book seats at this performance here. 👉 For guests with a hearing impairment, the performance on Wednesday 11th December at 18:00pm will be delivered with a British Sign Language Interpreter live on stage. If you need any more information to help plan your visit speak to our Box Office team on 01642 552663 and to discuss large group bookings. 🎟 https://lnkd.in/eD8NRc9v

Not known for my swimming ability (not sure what I am known for but that's for another time🤔) I have recently got back into the pool for a swim and you know what, I think I've actually missed it! Swimming is a great way to start the day and already after only 3 weeks I am starting to feel the benefit and I have even completed my first Tees Active Swimtag challenge. Swimtag is a great way to record your swims and monitor your progress and I would encourage everyone to use it if it's available in your local pool. Thank you 222 Sports Limited - Developers of SWIMTAG

The Future Workforce Academy is a pioneering blueprint created to reform recruitment and improve access to career information and opportunities within the leisure industry. Described by Clare Dunn, CIMSPA Associate Director, Business Engagement Partnerships as ‘leading the way in the North East’, the Future Workforce Academy is comprised of several routes into employment. The Academy is designed to break down barriers and create accessible routes for those who are unemployed, a student or retired, or those looking to change career or volunteer – it’s an established programme to sustain leisure recruitment long into the future and we’re delighted with the impact so far! 🤝 Partnered with Jobcentre Plus and a local Training Academy to offer those aged 19+ receiving unemployment benefits a free 4 week bespoke pre-employment training programme to help improve job prospects with a guaranteed interview at the end ⚽ Partnered with local Higher and Further Education providers to offer a valuable work placement opportunity for students currently enrolled in a sport related course, as well as opportunities for non-sport students 📚 Elements of the Academy offer employment upfront with the opportunity to work towards fully funded nationally recognised qualifications once in position 💸 Fully and part funded opportunities available for a variety of disciplines 💙 +£15,000 investment in training by Tees Active 🎓 Over 98% of apprentices successfully secure employment 💦 When the industry was reporting an alarming shortage of swimming teachers across the UK, the Academy lifted our recruitment from 1 in 2023 to 12 new coaches in the first 6 months of the Academy being launched – resulting in a further +1,000 children learning to swim 🙌 The Academy has been a resounding success so far and highlights our commitment to innovation and developing new partnerships to increase employment opportunities within the leisure industry. 💬 “I left my college course after hearing a talk from Tees Active about the Future Workforce Academy and I’m pleased to say I have since completed my apprenticeship and am now working in the Health and Fitness team” – Dan 💬 “I found about Tees Active’s SWAP programme at the Jobcentre Plus and within two weeks I was a qualified lifeguard and working full time shortly after!” – Ollie #SeriouslySocial #EmploymentAndSkills #Employment #Skills
