After reaching the incredible milestone of turning 50 in 2024, Switchboard is excited to share our decades of experience and knowledge with organisations to help build a society where everyone can feel heard and thrive! Since 1974, we have handled millions of conversations with people across the UK, talking about almost every topic imaginable. To facilitate these conversations we have honed our training around active listening, creating a safe space and providing tangible skills to support people from many different backgrounds and experiences. We are very excited to share a brand new suite of sessions with you to help your organisations feel more empowered to support one another. I recently read that leadership is a team sport, and I know this to be true. I often write about the incredible dedication of our volunteers (and rightly so), each in their way a testament to this truth. Behind our over 350 listening volunteers, each of whom has completed 60 hours of training, stands a small staff team and trustees who keep Switchboard - National LGBTQ+ Support Line operational and ever-improving. Throughout this year, our staff team has achieved significant milestones, marking 50 years of Switchboard, executing a rebrand, launching a new website, enhancing training programs, and successfully onboarding a record number of volunteers while ensuring their well-being. All these accomplishments come with financial demands, and our team has worked tirelessly to make it all happen, this has sometimes meant taking the lead in areas where they would acknowledge it's not always something that they have previous experience with. So, a special shoutout to Natasha, Henry, Allison, Katie, Bob, Kerri, and Mark for their exceptional work! It's a joy to work with each of you. Here's to continuing our journey in 2025 😉

We're on the lookout for a COO to join our team and help us develop our internal operational capacity to support the growth of our organisation. The COO will join the Senior Leadership Team and drive the development and implementation of the organisation’s strategy and operational plan to support the longer-term evolution and growth of our organisation and its services. This will involve a focus on our IT and technical infrastructure with oversight of other business and governance functions. This position is a 2-year fixed-term contract. The role is a full-time hybrid basis with a minimum of 2 days working in the London office a week.
