About us
Stella McCartney is a luxury lifestyle brand that was launched under the designer’s name in 2001. It emboldens confident femininity with elevated yet effortless, conscious fashion. The brand is committed to being an ethical and modern company, believing it is responsible for the resources it uses and the impact it has on the environment. It is therefore constantly innovating new ways to become more sustainable, from designing to store practices and product manufacturing. As a lifelong vegetarian, Stella McCartney never uses any leather, feathers, fur or skins in any products for both ethical and environmental reasons – pioneering a movement for the use of alternative materials. Supporting regenerative agriculture and circularity, the brand is embracing new business models that will transform how clothes are sourced, produced, sold, shared, repaired and reused, promoting long-lasting products with extended use to reduce environmental impact. Today, Stella McCartney spans women’s ready to wear, unisex capsules, kids’ clothing, accessories, swimwear, lingerie, a performance wear collaboration with adidas, STELLA skincare and more – with 48 directly owned stores and 21 franchise stores across New York City, London, Paris, Milan, Tokyo, Shanghai and Beijing. Our collections are now sold in 77 nations through 863 specialty shops and department stores, and ship to 100 countries via online.

Our Impact Report Year 2023 is now available, outlining how we are driving progress across five key pillars at the centre of our sustainability strategy: materials and innovation, social compliance, emissions control, traceability and biodiversity. We take a responsibility for the resources that we use and the impact we have on people, animals and the planet. We recognise that this goes beyond our sourcing, production and the lifespan of our products. We believe that the key to creating meaningful, widespread change is collaboration and have continued investing in our longstanding partnerships whilst making way for new ones. The report features data, performance highlights and progress against our targets from our 2023 fiscal year (1 January to 31 December 2023). We will continue to make significant progress on mapping our products' value chains and impacts, leveraging this knowledge to drive impact reductions and strategic advancements in line with the evolving regulatory landscape. There is more work to be done, but we believe we can affect far-reaching positive changes – together. NEW STELLA RYDER: The heritage of our Ryder bag. Each Ryder begins with hand-cut panels of our soft vegan alternatives to leather – stitched together and shaped into the bag’s curved silhouette using a wooden mould, finished with a functional lock in glimmering brass. Every icon is crafted by human hands in Italy with love, and without harming a single creature. Over 90% of horses sent to slaughter in America are in good condition and would be able to enjoy productive lives. Roughly 6 million horses are killed worldwide each year for human consumption across meat, leather and fashion, horsehair and glue. PETA and my parents collaborated to shape what animal rights are today, which is why I feel so honored and privileged to be named Person of the Year. I have felt connected and committed to this courageous, rebellious, kick-ass movement since I was very young, from our joint video calling to ban fur farms in the UK in 1998 to our feather-free pledge for the fashion industry in 2024. I look forward to continuing our mission with #Peta — giving a voice to the voiceless and, I hope, ending animal suffering once and for all... x Stella https://lnkd.in/eFypMWFk #StellaMcCartney #Vegan

STELLA RYDER: Introducing the new Ryder bag, featuring Sarah Snook. A mastery of cruelty-free craftsmanship. The Ryder bag is inspired by our equestrian codes and is #vegan down to the glue. How did Stella McCartney become LVMH's star activist brand? Despite findings from the #VogueBusiness Index highlighting that many brands struggle to meet #sustainability targets, Stella McCartney marks an exception. Ranking as LVMH's top-performing brand in environmental, social, and governance (ESG) measures, with distinct net-zero targets separate from LVMH’s other brands, Stella McCartney has adopted brand-level reporting to set more ambitious goals, aiming for net-zero emissions by 2040. With its pioneering work in next-gen materials, Stella McCartney is also perceived by consumers as one of the most sustainable brands in the industry.
