  • Tamworth Castle join call to #LightUpTheNight 💚 On 21 December, the longest night of the year, Tamworth Castle will once again light up green as part of the ‘Light up the Longest Night’ campaign. This gesture aims to spread hope and remind everyone that the Samaritans are always there to listen, especially during the festive season when some may feel alone. We are also happy to hear that Tamworth Samaritans have been awarded a three-year grant of £5,000 per year, totalling £15,000 from Tamworth Borough Council. This funding will help support their vital work in the local community, making sure that help is always available to those in need. The grant will run from 1 April 2025 – 31 March 2028, with the option to extend for one further year. How can you help? ✅ Display the Samaritans poster and green LED tealight in your window ✅ Post your support on social media using the hashtag #LightUpTheNight ✅ Share this message: “Anyone can contact Samaritans free any time from any phone, even from a mobile without credit. • Earlier this year, Eloise launched our Period Support Scheme. Since it began in August, the scheme has helped more than 135 people in #Staffordshire. Thanks to generous donations from staff, local councillors, businesses, the public, and even a foodbank in Cannock, the scheme is growing from strength to strength. To date, we’ve supplied 600 period pads to participating libraries - thanks to Egal for their kind donation after learning about the initiative! The scheme is currently running in five libraries: Stafford, Newcastle, Kidsgrove, and Burton. Tampons, day pads, night pads, and liners are available to pick up discreetly. You can find them in boxes near the toilets and in the main library areas. Anyone can take what they need, without asking staff. Eloise’s hard work to get this scheme up and running has paid off, as it’s already helping people and supporting those in need. If you’d like to support the scheme, you can donate products at any of the participating libraries. #EndPeriodPoverty #PeriodEquity

  • Are you struggling to run a growing business from home, outgrowing your capacity but worried about the costs and flexibility of hiring a space? Our enterprise centres are likely the perfect solution, and we'd love to hear from you. Philip Barker, founder of USR Design, started his campervan customisation business in his garage. Space was tight, there were many distractions, and costs to constantly hire skips to clean up the mess were spiralling. He looked at expensive units, but he didn't think they were the right choice. Then he found out that we offer smaller units, on flexible contracts at a much lower price. Philip moved his business to Newcastle Enterprise Centre in 2019, and it changed everything! With an affordable space, the flexibility to upsize and downsize his workshop, fewer distractions, and support to focus on what he loves, Philip says doing this was a 'no-brainer' for his business. #SmallBusiness #BusinessGrowth #Workspace #Entrepreneur #FlexibleWorkspace

  • Kath faced a tough time in life after losing a loved one. She heard about INTO’s walking and cycling groups through her local church. She decided to give them a try just to get outdoors and enjoy some fresh air. Little did she know, this decision would spark a journey that brought her closer to nature and a supportive community. Kath joined the weekly INTO walks and met people from all walks of life. Each walk gave her the chance to chat, share stories, and listen to others. As someone who had always been reserved, these walks helped her come out of her shell. Encouraged by the group, Kath joined the cycling sessions too. She started with beginner sessions through scenic areas around Silverdale and Apedale Country Park. As her skills and confidence grew, she took on more advanced rides to places like Keele and Bathpool Country Park. Kath describes being part of INTO as “life changing.” Surrounded by enthusiastic, supportive, and friendly people who share her love for the outdoors and care for each other’s well-being it's improved her self-confidence and added some joy back into her life. Kath takes pride in her cycling accomplishments and cherishes the friendships she’s made along the way ♥️ #CommunitySpirit #MakingADifference #StaffordshireStories #TalentShow #LearningDisabilityServices #SocialCare

  • Keele University joins the ‘Light up the Longest Night’ Campaign! We are thrilled to announce that Keele University is joining up the ‘Light up the Longest Night’ campaign on Saturday 21 December, the longest night of the year, when the sun sets around 4pm. The university will be handling out our posters and green tea lights to students who are staying behind on campus this Christmas to tell them that they are not alone. In partnership with the Samaritans, the campaign is all about spreading the message that help is available, even during the longer winter nights and festive season. Last year, Samaritans volunteers responded to thousands of calls across the UK and Ireland, and this year, they will continue to be there round-the-clock for those in need. We’re inviting everyone to join Keele University and other organisations by displaying a light in your window to symbolise support and solidarity. Together we can ensure that no one has to face their struggles alone. Posters and green LED Tealights are still available for collection at all Staffordshire libraries, numbers are limited. Together, we can make a difference 💚 ➡️ To find out more or how to get involved, please visit: https://orlo.uk/eNRhK #LightUpTheNight
