It was my great pleasure over the past two days to host Hervé Montjotin and the SOCOTEC Group team here in the UK. More than 50 of our executives convened to present the company's 2025 budget and strategic plan.   As the first budget session of my tenure, I was impressed by the focus, expertise and collaborative spirit demonstrated by all in attendance. The teams showcased their plans to drive organic growth and operational excellence across our diverse divisions. Their presentations made clear our collective resolve to achieve the ambitious 2024-2028 objectives we have set for SOCOTEC.   I am deeply proud of the SOCOTEC UK organisation and the world-class talent we have assembled. In November 2024, we hosted a conference in Barcelona, bringing together fire engineering experts from the UK and Spain to collaborate on the future of safety and resilience. This event demonstrated the importance of international dialogue in addressing regional challenges and driving innovation across our industry. The conference featured inspiring contributions from across our teams. Alicia Huguet and Tabea Uhr set the tone by introducing the Spain and UK teams, emphasising a shared vision and the strength of collaboration. Beatriz Aviñó de Pablo and Leah McMillan delved into post-Grenfell fire engineering, sparking discussions on how regulations, industry practices, and construction methods have evolved—and where the future may take us. Sarath Gopi Cherukat shared compelling insights into façade design innovations, referencing lessons from the Grenfell Tower fire and presenting cutting-edge systems and research that are shaping safer buildings. José Raúl González Fidalgo and Miguel Masó captivated attendees with advanced modelling case studies, exploring the potential of structural fire engineering, CFD modelling, evacuation analysis, and civil aerodynamics to tackle complex challenges with precision and innovation. The event highlighted critical principles for advancing fire engineering. Adapting to evolving regulations and learning from past incidents is essential to enhancing safety, while technology-driven modelling tools are revolutionising how we address the complexities of fire engineering. Above all, the event highlighted how cross-border collaboration fosters shared solutions, drives innovation, and strengthens a global perspective on fire safety.
