  • Today, our Health & Wellbeing team had the privilege of hearing from the inspirational Suzi Payton, whose talk deepened our understanding of how we can better support Neurodivergent individuals in their journey to employment. In the UK, only 22% of autistic adults are in paid work, compared to 52% of disabled people overall. This gap highlights the need for more inclusive workplaces and support for neurodivergent individuals. We’re proud to be a Disability Confident leader dedicated to supporting our neurodivergent customers in achieving their employment goals. A huge thank you, Suzi, for sharing your insight and passion! Together, we can build more inclusive futures. #DisabilityConfident #Neurodiversity #Inclusion #Fedcap

  • Yesterday’s conference highlighted the sector’s readiness to tackle economic inactivity through innovation, collaboration, and localised solutions. A standout moment was the role of football clubs’ charitable arms, where the trust inspired by the badge opens doors to communities, enabling meaningful and impactful support. Alongside this, discussions explored the potential of AI and technology platforms to transform customer journeys and deliver tailored solutions. Alison McGovern’s message was clear: solutions must be local, innovative, and impactful. At Fedcap, we’re inspired and ready to deliver services that transform lives, strengthen communities, and drive real change. The day concluded with the ERSA Awards Ceremony, a wonderful opportunity to celebrate and recognise the exceptional work and incredible people in our sector. Congratulations to all the winners, and a special mention to our own Susan Paterson FIEP, who presented the Fedcap-sponsored award for Adding Social Value. A huge well done to PeoplePlus for taking home this award—well deserved!

Delighted to be attending the Employment Related Services Association (ERSA) Conference this year, and listen to the powerful words “Out of work, out of sight.” from Alison McGovern, Minister of State for Employment. Reflecting on the recently published White Paper and rising economic inactivity, McGovern emphasised the need to rethink how we view those out of work, describing it as a “different kind of unemployment” rather than writing people off. Key takeaways: 📊 Evidence-driven solutions: Data shows inter-work rates are falling, not rising—a wake-up call to address labour market inequalities, not just between the North and South, but within local geographies. 💡 Trailblazers: Women, young people, and those with long-term mental health conditions are central to new strategies designed to tackle regional disparities. 🤝 Collaboration is key: McGovern acknowledged the immense talent in the employment support sector, urging us to shape localised, people-centric solutions. 🎯 The goal? Get Britain Working: Supporting individuals to not only find work but also thrive in their roles. McGovern’s message was clear: the challenge is clear, and the DWP is ready to face it. In turn, the employment support sector stands ready to play its vital part in delivering localised, evidence-driven solutions to tackle economic inactivity and help 'Get Britain Working'. #ERSAConference #ERSA #GetBritainWorking #ERSA2024 #EmploymentSupport Brian Bell Lynn Thompson Susan Paterson FIEP Kirsty Hunn Becky Craven Fiona Jones Jeremy Poon

Had a really enjoyable day yesterday with the The Institute of Employability Professionals. After a positive AGM, I had the honour of introducing Levi Roots as the guest speaker to the annual Fellows' Lecture. The IEP once again secured a first-class speaker in Levi, who delivered a compelling and inspirational talk. This is the second year Fedcap has co-sponsored the lecture and I was thrilled to be asked again to compere the event, which not only champions fellowship but acts as a thank you to Fellows for the important work they do in the employability sector. I'm already looking forward to the 2025 lecture!
