About us
The SEC is the agreement that defines the rights and obligations of energy suppliers, network operators and other relevant parties involved in the management of smart metering in Great Britain. The SEC is enforced under the Data and Communications Company (DCC) licence, which has been established to manage the smart metering communications infrastructure. The DCC, Energy Suppliers and Network Operators are required by the licence to become a Party to the SEC and comply with its provisions. Other bodies that wish to use the DCC’s services must also accede to the SEC. The SEC is self-governed and is managed by the SEC Panel, with oversight, where appropriate, from Ofgem. 📢 Technical Specification Applicability Tables (TSAT) Guidance Note Published by SECAS! 📢 SECAS recently published a Guidance Note https://lnkd.in/eBSh5GPA to help SEC Parties understand the Technical Specification Applicability Tables (TSAT) found in Schedule 11 of the SEC. It explains how these tables impact SEC Parties, particularly in relation to Smart Metering installations. Every Smart Metering Device must comply with the minimum functional requirements as defined in the relevant Technical Specifications in the SEC subsidiary documents. Transition of CPA Scheme Ownership to SSC and Appointment of New Scheme Operator Following a consultation in February 2024, DESNZ confirmed on 24 May 2024 that the Commercial Product Assurance (CPA) Scheme Ownership would transfer from the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) to the Security Sub-Committee (SSC) and placed a SEC obligation on the SSC to procure a CPA Scheme Operator. CyTAL UK Ltd has been appointed as the new CPA Scheme Operator, with a knowledge transfer process already underway. This transition is expected to be fully completed by April 2025.
