[NEWS] Spanish Authorities Investigate OTA for Illegal Listings Spanish authorities have initiated an investigation into an undisclosed online travel agency (OTA) for allegedly failing to remove thousands of illegal short-term rental listings. 🏠⚖️ The Spanish Consumer Rights Ministry claims the OTA did not comply with orders to delete listings without the required tourism use licenses, issued earlier this year. The platform could face fines of up to €100,000 or four to six times the profit generated from these listings. Starting April 2025, sellers and booking platforms must disclose total prices upfront, ensuring consumers see the full cost without last-minute surprises. This initiative is a key part of President Joe Biden’s commitment to protecting consumers and enhancing pricing transparency. 🇺🇸✨ Despite strong support, the rule faces potential challenges with the upcoming Republican-controlled Congress.
