🪫 “SR” is 64 and following a long career history, she found herself widowed, unemployed and unwell. Although relatively close to retirement age, SR is mentally agile and has a wide range of skills to offer a supportive and flexible employer. 🟣 SR had been a carer for both her husband and her late mother who both passed away within six months of each other. 🟣 Living in rural Preston, SR was socially isolated and experienced some financial difficulties. The combination of these circumstances and her own difficult health issues led to a loss of confidence. SR needed support to help her move forward. ➡️ The Move Forward Preston project referred SR to our partner Lancashire Community Finance. At their first meeting, Keyworker Caz and SR developed a personal action plan together. ➡️ LCF’s specialist advisor Lynda supported SR by identifying her financial concerns and actions to take. ➡️ Looking ahead, SR wanted to prepare to re-enter the job market. Alongside practical support, guidance around Access To Work was provided. Through one-to-one meetings and group sessions, SR was able to start rebuilding her confidence. ➡️ SR was supported to create her CV and to register on two job search websites. ➡️ LCF’s workshops included a specialist mental health and mental fitness advisor, who explored a range of themes for attendees to help support themselves. ➡️ SR was enrolled onto a mental health first aid course and referred to the Pioneer Programme for 12 months of employment support and 6 months of In Work Support (IWS). 🔋 For accessing Move Forward support in Preston: 💻 Visit https://lnkd.in/ebkk8_eZ 📧 Email Daisy Carlyle-Ryan on daisy@selnet-uk.com 📞 Call 01772 200690 and ask about the “Move Forward project in Preston”. The Move Forward is a project supporting Preston residents who are out of work & aged over 25. Delivery partners working with Selnet support eligible residents who are furthest from the labour market, helping them overcome their personal barriers to economic activity. Thank you everyone involved and Preston City Council for making this support possible! #ukspf #preston

💡 Chris Trickett, Boost; Lancashire's Business Growth Hub Flying Start business adviser, said: “By ensuring our Boost team are present at local career expos and Lancashire business events, we are able to help and advise budding entrepreneurs like Mark. "He came to us with clear determination, but like many starting out, he needed to shift from just finding work to building a sustainable business. The first thing we worked on was ensuring he had the right foundation – getting his financials in order and diversifying his contracts to reduce risk. “What stands out about Mark is his ability to take advice and turn it into action straight away. "From managing a growing workload to securing contracts across multiple sectors, he’s proven that with hard work and the right guidance, you can bounce back from tough times and build something strong and sustainable.” ↗️ Read more here: https://lnkd.in/d-RN6M4t 🏵️ Read more about the Flying Start service here: https://lnkd.in/dasZPfgD cc: Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council Chris Trickett Community CVS Yvette Holden Dawn Welham Alina Belousova #useboost #growinglancashirebusinesses #helpingbusinessesthrive #growthconversation #flyingstart #entrepreneurs #startups #newbusiness #advice #network #growinglancashire #referafriend

🎤 "I joined Boost; Lancashire's Business Growth Hub on the Flying Start programme as, whilst I have expertise in my area and industry, I felt such a novice with the many aspects involved in managing my own business. "Some of these factors I managed to research and learn by myself, but there were other aspects that I really needed some practical help and support. This service has given me the opportunity to discuss areas of the business I am lacking and also areas I want to expand and improve on. "Flying Start has given me useful suggestions, ideas and introductions to people who can benefit me and my business. I have been able to attend workshops, business network meetings, get 1-1 coaching from Lateef Badat to help me create a personalised plan with useful directions and steps towards success. "It’s been really helpful, and I appreciate the support I have received and continue to receive. I am very grateful to boost for this. Its made a very positive impact for me and my business." 😄 Thank you to Steven Ratcliffe, Director of SR Therapy Centre Ltd based in #Chorley for such positive feedback on the Flying Start service and support from business advisor Lateef "The Business Networking Ninja" 💡 🥷 Badat MSc! 📢 Hear from Steven here: https://lnkd.in/em3WBC9P ▶️ Visit the company's website here: https://lnkd.in/e5xYBXWJ Shout Connect Chorley Council Andrew Leeming Yvette Holden Dawn Welham Alina Belousova #useboost #growinglancashirebusinesses #helpingbusinessesthrive #growthconversation #flyingstart #entrepreneurs #startups #newbusiness #advice #network #festiveseason #sustainability
