About us
Salix Homes is a multi-award winning social housing provider based in Salford, Greater Manchester. We began our journey in 2007 when we launched as an arms length management organisation (ALMO) operating on behalf of Salford City Council. In 2014 our tenants voted for us to take over ownership of their homes from the council. In March 2015 we officially moved away from the council and became a stand-alone Registered Provider (RP) responsible for providing the people of Salford with the high-quality homes they deserve. Salix Homes colleagues have helped people across Greater Manchester get interview ready by supporting Groundwork Greater Manchester's Working Wardrobe project. Working Wardrobe provides suitable interview outfits and workwear, as well as employability support, for people across Greater Manchester who are struggling financially or have identified a lack of appropriate clothing as a barrier to securing employment. We organised a series of collections and activities to support various charities and good causes over the festive period and will be continuing to collect donations for Working Wardrobe in the new year. We would like to thank Co-op Academy Swinton for their incredible generosity. Thanks to them, we were able to donate an entire Salix Homes van-worth of food and toiletries to The Family Food Fayre, held in St Thomas Church in Pendleton. The Food Fayre provides access to low-cost food parcels for people in need across Salford and this donation will make a real difference to people who are facing challenging times. We'll be sharing more about this story in the new year.
