  • Celebrating success no 4: Run Club This is something I’m really proud of, even though it’s not directly related to coaching. Back in June, I started a Run Club in my hometown of Chippenham. The idea was simple: to give people an opportunity to get out of the house, meet new people, have some fun, and work on their fitness at the same time. For me, it also added a layer of accountability—knowing that every Wednesday, I had to show up and run around the park with others. We started with just two of us in June, but by the end of the summer, we were regularly welcoming 20 people. Together, we created a real community!

  • Celebrating Success No. 3: Back on Track It's easy to lose sight of our career ambitions. We become so focused on the day-to-day grind, and as life gets in the way, we often switch to autopilot, existing instead of thriving. This year, I've worked with several clients who felt exactly that, lost, unsure of what they wanted from their careers, and left feeling unmotivated. In some cases, this even affected other areas of their lives. One client, in particular, stands out. He had flew up the corporate ladder, reaching a director-level position in a relatively short time. While this was undoubtedly impressive, it left him with little opportunity to step back and consider: Is this really what I want? When we started working together, we explored what he wanted from life and filtered that down to his career. It turned out that, while he didn’t hate his job, there were other things he was passionate about trying. Through multiple sessions, we defined what that looked like and developed a plan. Fast forward, his side hustle is now up and running—and he’s already sold his first product! (Amazing progress in such a short time.) His plan? To grow the side hustle to the point where he can leave his well-paid, comfortable corporate position and pursue it full-time. This journey resonated with me, as it reminded me of my own path. I love working with ambitious, bright, and brave individuals, helping them rediscover their passion and drive, and getting them back on track.

  • Celebrating Success No. 2: Confidence Building Being out of work for a prolonged period can impact you in many ways. Perhaps the biggest challenge is a loss of confidence in your abilities: "No one wants me." "Am I actually any good at my job?" "I’m interviewing for roles I know I can do but keep getting rejected." I’ve heard these words from several clients this year. One client, in particular, stands out—a senior professional from a global business who had spent over 20 years with her previous employer before being made redundant earlier this year. Her confidence was shaken. She was feeling the strain of life without a job—losing structure, purpose, and income. We worked together to rebuild her confidence, starting by focusing on her impressive achievements and reminding her that redundancy is a business decision, not a reflection of her abilities. We created structure in her day, set actionable goals after each session, and worked on small, achievable milestones to consistently rebuild her confidence. She even took on a part-time job to regain a sense of purpose. The transformation was incredible. Watching her grow throughout JOBQUEST (my job search strategy programme) was one of the highlights of my year. She’s now landed a brilliant role in a new sector—one that challenges and excites her, exactly what she was looking for. I couldn’t be prouder of her journey—from where she started to where she is now.

  • Really simple suggestion here, but you’d be surprised how often people use we instead of I. I’m guilty of this myself. On calls with clients or potential clients, I often default to we. In fact, someone recently asked me, “Will it be you running the sessions, or someone from your team?” This usually stems from being uncomfortable selling yourself or simply not being aware of it. Many of us naturally default to we. But here’s the thing: when you're in an interview, the interviewer doesn’t need to know what the team did—they want to know about your impact. An easy way to fix this? If you’re interviewing digitally, stick a note near your camera that says I. It’s a simple reminder to stay on track and highlight your contributions. Face to face is more difficult, I'd suggest putting an I in the corner of your notepad, this isn't going to be too obvious to the interviewer.

  • Celebrating success: A client's career transformation As 2024 draws to a close, I want to share some of the incredible wins my clients have achieved this year. Here's the first: Helping client A transition to a new sector with a £20,000 salary increase! Client A came to me after handing in her notice with nothing lined up. She had a 3-month notice period and was eager to secure her next role quickly. Through my coaching programme, JOBQUEST, we began with the first session: Defining what you're looking for. It soon became clear that she wanted to leave the healthcare sector and explore opportunities in a new industry. When a large national financial services company posted an opening that aligned with her background, we knew this was the chance. The obvious challenge being, making the leap from Healthcare to financial services Three interviews later, including a final round with a challenging presentation (which we prepared for in two dedicated coaching sessions), she received an offer—and the cherry on top? A £20,000 salary increase! How did we achieve this? - We used a proven method to elevate her perceived value throughout the interview process, building the company's confidence in her ability to hit the ground running. - We doubled down on showcasing her transferable skills and strengths, aligning them with the new sector's needs. This success is a testament to what’s possible with clarity, preparation, and the right support.
