Earlier this year, we launched a call to action to ensure that youth are at the driving seat of all the decisions involving the use of technology in education. This call to action, builds on the recommendations of the #2024YouthReport with Restless Development where more than 1000 young people from around the world shared their views about how to ensure an equitable use of education technology. In 2025, we will be amplifying this report and its messages by organizing regional dialogues with young people and inviting others to join the call to action. The name of the young people who sign this call to action will be added at the end of the report. We hope to collect at least 1,000 signatures of young people calling for #TechOnOurTerms. Please help us spread the word! 🙌🏻 Restless Development Opportunities for Youth Primrose Manyalo Phuong Mai Anh Tran Rosario del Pilar Diaz Garavito Yasmein Abdelghany Adelisa S. Titiksha Vashist

🌟 Last September, we partnered with Restless Development to host the Youth Power Summit, where young people took centre stage to lead conversations across generations and engage directly with decision-makers. While world leaders gathered at the UN Summit of the Future, young people at the Youth Power Summit shared their bold vision on global governance, leadership, and societal wellbeing, ensuring their voice is heard. Here are our 6 key takeaways from the summit: 🔎 Young people's rights remain overlooked 🗣️ Youth voices must be heard in decision-making 🛑 Adolescence must be protected from harm, violence, and discrimination 🤖 Human rights must guide AI and digital tech innovation 💙 Mental health must be prioritised for youth wellbeing 📱 Closing the gender digital divide is essential PMNCH UN Women Born This Way Foundation The MTV Staying Alive Foundation and many more. #YouthPower #YouthPowerSummit

Last month, I had the pleasure of co-hosting a 2-day UK Feminist Convention for Restless Development alongside Sophia Raineri and Millicent Wenlock FRSA StMIEnvSc. In addition to this, I supported Emily McChrystal (FRSA)’s workshop analysing ‘Invisible Women’, in which we discussed data gaps and the consequences of policies that overlook women’s experiences. To conclude the weekend, I spoke on our Girl Math panel alongside Christal Kihm and Ines Hart about the need for multi-year, trust-based funding for intersectional feminist movements. Currently, funding is so limited and reactive - we shouldn’t be waiting for a woman to get killed before we realise we need to fund initiatives which work to end violence against women and girls. Likewise, we shouldn’t be making promises to half VAWG without financially supporting our community and voluntary sector. My key reflections from this event are: - We must go further if we are to create truly transformative spaces. We shouldn’t try to fit the mould, but rather walk the talk and remove the hierarchical nature from conferences. We should host more accessible and inclusive workshops and roundtables that allow for the contributions of diverse voices, especially those from the majority world. - Where are the men? And what is it about the word feminist that seeks to alienate half of the population? If we are to achieve gender equality then we need the participation of everybody. Who’s in the room really matters, and we need to start encouraging those who actively disagree with us into these spaces. - Asking for lived experience is often an extractive process. Leaders want individuals to relive their trauma at various events. However, we don’t want your sympathy, we want you to action our words. - Finally, we need sustainable, trust-based funding for grassroots organisations as opposed to making them fight over insufficient pots of money! Congratulations to all of the Walking the Talk Steering Group. I’m so proud of what we have achieved in 2024. Bring on 2025! 📸 Anna-Mhairi Kane #WalkingTheTalk #WTT #GoingTheExtraMile #RestlessDevelopment #funding #genderequality #feminism #grassroots
