  • 💡 𝗜𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁: 𝗦𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗴 𝗽𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲’𝘀 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝘀𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹 𝘁𝗼 𝗲𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗼𝘆𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 At Reed in Partnership, we are part of the system to support young people to transition out of compulsory education. We are delivering the Central London Careers Hub on behalf of the Greater London Authority and The Careers & Enterprise Company. Latest estimates reveal that almost a million (946,000) young people were not in education, employment or training (NEET) between July and September 2024. It has never been more crucial to deliver high quality careers activities and explore available opportunities with young people. Innovation and adaptability have been key to our successful delivery, we have found there is no ‘one size fits all’ approach to careers education provision. Providing accessible resources, understanding and supporting diverse educational needs, and promoting inclusivity have all been integral parts of our approach to date. In this article Nii Thompson, Divisional Director, shares how we are working with young people, careers educators and employers to ensure that young people benefit from the best available support to make informed career and education choices in London. • 🤝 𝗡𝗲𝘄 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗻𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 𝗼𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 We are seeking expressions of interest for Connect to Work - the new service being commissioned as part of the Government's Get Britain Working strategy. Connect to Work will be delivered in England and Wales to help economically inactive people who want to work to find sustainable employment. Priority participant groups will be disabled people, people with health conditions, and people in specified cohorts - these are detailed in our EOI. It is anticipated that 75% participants will follow the Individual Placement & Support (IPS) model, and 25% will follow the Supported Employment model. We are seeking expressions of interest from local organisations with experience of locally delivering: - IPS services - Supported Employment services - Proven employability services, supporting those who are furthest from the labour market - Specialist services removing barriers to employment for one or more of the specified groups Given that the nature of these locally commissioned programmes will require local, community-based delivery, we will be looking for evidence of this in EOI responses. Darren McLoughlin, Settlement Support Adviser on the AIRE service at Reed in Partnership, chose to make his donation to the Kevin Bell Repatriation Trust, a Newry-based charity which aims to alleviate the financial hardship of bereaved families in Ireland. Darren told us: “The trust provides support with bringing loved one’s home who have sadly passed away abroad. Being from Newry, I know the amazing work this charity carries out. “The Kevin Bell Trust is there when people are at their lowest to provide crucial support, and I believe there isn’t a better charity to receive this generous donation. “I know these funds will help a family in desperate need of support.” #improvinglivesthroughwork #lifeatreed

  • Our Employability Director Nick Morgan gives his take on today's newly released labour market statistics: "With the latest labour market statistics painting a rather flat picture, it is really important that we focus on the skills and workforce needs of each sector of the economy to drive the economic growth that will create sustainable jobs. "That means high-quality support, tailored employer engagement and a forensic focus on upskilling people so that they have the opportunity to get sustainable jobs of the future. "On the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) Restart Scheme - where Reed in Partnership is delivering two of the top three services across England and Wales - our skills academies and personalised support are designed to help people develop the skills that employers need." • On Wednesday we were pleased to host the fourth instalment of our Employer Masterclass series, hosted by Reed in Partnership’s senior leaders and in-house experts. The “How to build a diverse and inclusive workforce” session was presented by Nii Thompson, Divisional Director of Reed Citizen Services and Diversity Sponsor for Ethnic Minorities at Reed in Partnership. During the session, Nii was joined by Julie Bury, Head of Organisation Development and Design, to speak about the strategies we have put in place to review the diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) process, and together they discussed how to encompass everyone as part of being an inclusive employer. Sundeep Patel, National Account Manager at Reed in Partnership who coordinates the Employer Masterclass series, shared, “We were delighted to have our employability partner Mitie discuss their DEI strategy, and how they have increased awareness and understanding of topics that are important to their colleagues. “We would like to thank everyone who has presented at or joined any of the online sessions, and we look forward to hosting more in the New Year.” Keep an eye on our feed to find out more about the upcoming sessions in 2025. #EmployerMasterclass

The Big Give Christmas Challenge 2024 has now ended, raising a total of £44.7 million for 1,267 charities! We’re pleased to share that PTSD Resolution have exceeded their fundraising target, reaching £47,665 in donations and match funding. These donations will go towards supporting PTSD Resolution’s mission to provide free trauma therapy to Veterans, Reservists and their families. As a volunteer-led charity, PTSD Resolution operates with no salaried staff, ensuring that over 90% of the funds raised will go directly towards delivering free and accessible treatment to those in need. We would like to thank everyone who has supported the Big Give Christmas Challenge campaign and PTSD Resolution, whether you have donated, liked, or shared a post. This would not have been possible without the significant support received. If you would like to continue to support Big Give and double the impact on causes you care about, discover their range of campaigns at donate.biggive.org

  • Earlier this year we launched Community Connect, our new scheme which grants everyone at Reed in Partnership three days each year to volunteer within their local community. Maria Chappell, Employment Adviser on our Work Routes service, used her Community Connect days to volunteer for the Yorkshire Ambulance Service (YAS) Charity. The organisation supports local ambulance services through training volunteers and funding community education initiatives. Maria has been volunteering with YAS as a Community First Responder since 2015, so was delighted to get the chance to give more of her time to the service. Community First Responders are vital across Yorkshire as they enable more people to respond to a medical emergency. Working in local communities, volunteers are trained to provide lifesaving treatment in those critical few minutes between an incident and the ambulance arriving. Maria shared her experience stating, “My Community Connect days were spent assisting the crew on shift and visiting a local secondary school to demonstrate the importance of the Restart a Heart initiative which encourages people to learn CPR. “I am very passionate about the role I do and want to make a real difference, so this was the perfect opportunity. This is a very important time of year for the service, and being closer to the patients allows myself to offer vital support at the scene. “𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗱𝗮𝘆𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗮 𝗳𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗰 𝘄𝗮𝘆 𝘁𝗼 𝗴𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗯𝗮𝗰𝗸 𝘁𝗼 𝗼𝗿𝗴𝗮𝗻𝗶𝘀𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗴𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗲𝘅𝘁𝗿𝗮 𝗺𝗶𝗹𝗲.” #community #volunteering #socialimpact
