UK national charity for people affected by psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis

About us

The Psoriasis Association is the leading national membership organisation for people affected by psoriasis: patients, families, carers and health professionals, in the United Kingdom. We run a helpline service for people who need information, advice and support and we have a comprehensive range of material available. This includes a selection of leaflets and fact sheets as well as a website and material specifically for teenagers. We also publish a quarterly member's magazine of up-to-date news. Our website is home to a forum, which is great for peer to peer support and advice, while you can also find us on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. Our helpline can be reached by calling us on 01604 251 620, or emailing us at mail@psoriasis-association.org.uk and is available between 9am-4pm Monday to Friday. We also offer a WhatsApp helpline which operates between 9am-5 Monday to Thursday and 9am-4.30pm Friday. The Psoriasis Association is a Registered Charity in England and Wales (no.1180666) and in Scotland (SC039886).

Updates

  • Research is a huge part of what we do here at the Psoriasis Association, and something we are very proud of. Here's some of our highlights from 2024! ⭐We funded (and match funded by Global Psoriasis Atlas) a new population-based study being conducted by Professor Darren Ashcroft at the University of Manchester. Professor Ashcroft’s research will shed a light on any differences and/or similarities in the incidence and prevalence rates of psoriasis between ethnicities in the UK, explore whether the Covid pandemic affected rates of psoriasis and aims to update our knowledge and understandings on the prevalence of psoriasis in the UK. We look forward to sharing these findings with you as they become available. ⭐Two of our currently funded PhD students presented their research to date at the Psoriasis Association’s annual conference in June: Binh Phan (supervised by Dr Zenus Yiu, University of Manchester) presented ‘Evaluation of TNF Inhibitor Biosimilar Use in the UK: a study from BADBIR. Heber Bright (supervised by Dr Zenus Yiu, University of Manchester) presented ‘Serious Infection Risk with Biologics Used in the Management of Moderate to Severe Psoriasis. ⭐Three of our funded PhD students are in their final writing up stage: Yiqiao Chen, supervised by Professor Silvia Bulfone-Paus at University of Manchester. Project title: Mast cell-CD8 T cell interactions as drivers of psoriasis immune-pathogenesis. Isabel Hyde, supervised by Professor Miriam Wittmann at University of Leeds. Project title: Predicting therapy response in Psoriasis. Luc Francis, supervised by Dr Satveer Mahil at Kings College London. Project title: Identifying biomarkers of disease remission in psoriasis. We wish Yiqiao, Isabel and Luc the best of luck as they work towards completing their theses and preparing for their Viva Voces. We’re sure all their hard work and commitment will be rewarded with successful outcomes. We will continue to promote the work of all our researchers throughout the year and you can view various publications from our funded research on the website here https://lnkd.in/eMeec5tS
