  • We are pleased to join over 40 organisations in the Creative Rights in AI Coalition, calling on the Government to safeguard creators’ rights in the face of AI and support future success of the creative industries. We continue to work with the Government and across the creative sectors to ensure the views of songwriters, composers and music publishers are not lost in the race for technological advancement. Read our three principles for a regulatory framework on AI below. To find out more about our work, visit the coalition’s website here: https://lnkd.in/edJAhWbe #creativerightsinai

  • We're paying out £265 million in royalties this month. That’s over £40m and 18% more royalties than this time last year – the most we’ve ever paid out. In the first royalty payment this month (13 December), we’re paying out close to £235m. Then on 20 December, we’re paying out over £30m in royalties from online streaming services (MTOL), including Spotify and Apple Music. This includes an extra £1.1m made possible due to the reduction in the MTOL admin rate we announced earlier this year. Over 850 members are receiving their first ever royalty payment. #PRSDay

Members of our Great Croft Day Care Centre were delighted to be joined by our friends from PRS for Music for a Christmas Party! 🎄 It was a fantastic afternoon that included a lovely Christmas lunch, music, and plenty of laughter and festivities. This time of year can be particularly difficult for some of the older people we support, so events such as this really do make a huge difference to their wellbeing. Thank you so much to the team at PRS for Music for volunteering, everyone had a brilliant time 💙

A global economic study on the potential impacts of generative AI to the music and audiovisual sectors has today been released by CISAC. On AI Andrea C. Martin, ICD.D PRS for Music CEO said: 'Alongside advocating for a robust framework for responsible AI, we are utilising AI to streamline processes, increase matching accuracy and accelerate the payment of royalties. PRS is working across the society network to build consensus in how to tackle the shared challenges of AI, while also harnessing its opportunities, for the benefit of songwriters, composers and music publishers.' • Last month, the Film and Book Club at PRS for Music hosted a special film night in celebration of Black History Month, themed Reclaiming Narratives. Some of the team came together to enjoy Rye Lane, a romantic comedy set in Peckham.   This event followed an inspiring session with the wonderful Phyll Opoku-Gyimah earlier in the month. She shared her lived experiences through an intersectional lens, providing a thought-provoking discussion about championing equality for people of colour in LGBTQ+ communities. The message of inclusion at PRS doesn't belong in set days or months of the year. Our EDIB team and affinity groups work hard to spark thought-provoking conversations and create inclusive activities and events for all at PRS to come together, throughout the whole year. ✨ #LifeAtPRS #DiversityAndInclusion

    Head of Publisher Relations

I recently attended the ICMP Music Minds Europe conference to share the latest on PRS for Music’s work on linking ISWC and ISRC codes with the Metadata Expert Group.   Linking the ISWC (the code for musical works) with ISRC (the code for recordings) at the point of registration will improve the quality of data, ensure smoother processes, and, most importantly, get music creators and rights holders paid quicker.   My thanks to the Metadata Expert Group for their feedback and to ICMP for bringing us all together to tackle these important topics. #MusicIndustry #PRSforMusic #LifeAtPRS #MusicMindsEurope #MusicRights
