‘The climb is often more enjoyable than the summit.’ As we all continue our journey to wherever work or life takes us, its worth pausing for a minute and enjoying the positive things that are going on around us. Today, we’re taking a moment to celebrate an exciting milestone, returning to the scenic River Liffey in Dublin to start our 20th Project along these banks!   Waterfront South Central Development encompasses a 4.6 acre site. It was the last undeveloped city block in the Docklands. The site is integral to the urban regeneration of Dublin's Docklands and will become Ireland's first ever carbon positive campus. We will be working with Main Contractor PJ Hegarty & Sons on this Ronan Group development.   #PlattReilly #ConstructionExcellence #Sustainability #Innovation

A recent article describes how someone recently took off one of their converse shoes and put it into an empty art exhibition room in world-famous Guggenheim Museum in New York. They then filmed as people unaware of the prank began to pause and reflect on the shoe with interest. The clip went viral as the internet makes fun of what now constitutes modern art. But what is it like to stand in someone’s else’s shoes, what is their situation? There can be hundreds of people working on a construction project. Overlapping teams, trying to work collaboratively, often meeting for the first time. It can be important to pause and imagine standing in their shoes. Whether it be a co-worker, boss, employee, partner, friend or foe. What pressures might they be under that you are unaware off. What might be very important to them, due to their situation, personality, peer pressure, their commitments or any myriad of reasons. Taking time to pause and imagining these, which could be completely different to yours can make finding a common ground so much easier. Just don’t let them catch you staring at their shoes! #construction #relationships #plattreilly

  • Where did the custard cream, bourbon, Garibaldi and best of all, the chocolate covered biscuit originate from? Well, a few streets to the south of Bermondsey tube station used to be a large biscuit factory estate, the Peek Freans factory and these biscuits were their recipe. Founded in 1857, initial milestones included exporting biscuits to Australia from 1861 and receiving an order from the French Army for 460 tonnes of biscuits in 1871. Peek Freans was a symbol of Bermondsey’s industrial past and played a central part of Bermondsey life, employing thousands of families through the generations. The company however was broken up in 1982 and the factory closed in 1989.   A new development is envisaged at this site by Greystar, which will see the transformation of approximately 12 acres from a former industrial site into an integrated and vibrant area.   We are excited to be part of the first two phases that will bring new life and opportunities to this development. A big thank you to John Sisk & Son Ltd for entrusting us with the partition and ceiling package on Building ST , comprising two towers of up to 36 storeys, containing 472 market-rent homes. A big thank you to McAleer & Rushe for entrusting us with the SFS, and partition and ceiling package to Buildings 1-5, which will deliver 359 homes split between market and intermediate rent.   #plattreilly #whatsyourfavourite #custardcreamsforthewin #transformation
