"Seven Mills will be the size of a town like Maynooth, but, rather than being developed over centuries, our goal is to fully complete this new town by 2030." Yesterday we were delighted to officially open the first phase of Blessington Town Park and Playground, in partnership with Wicklow County Council. Joining us for this special day were Cllr. Patsy Glennon, Cathaoirleach of the Baltinglass Municipal District, and Leonora Earls, Director of Services at Wicklow County Council. This 16-acre park is a transformative addition to Blessington, offering a playing pitch, tennis courts, a bowling green, and scenic walkways for all ages. It will serve as a focal point for the community and forms part of a larger 37-acre development, with ongoing work on a greenway to Glen Ding Woods. The day was made even more special by the presence of 6th class students from two local schools, who brought festive cheer with carols and enjoyed warming cups of hot chocolate. Cairn is proud to continue to create sustainable communities where people can thrive, and we thank Wicklow County Council for their collaboration in delivering this invaluable amenity. Cairn support the All-Ireland Pollinator Plan (AIPP) with our Pollinator Friendly planting and landscape works across all of our developments and have been acknowledged by the National Biodiversity Data Centre as a Pollinator Friendly business since 2018. A big part of our approach to supporting AIPP is through fostering biodiversity in all of our developments. Through conscious efforts when designing and planning developments, as well as strategic partnerships like with AIPP, we strive to create a more vibrant and ecologically balanced environment that benefits both nature and our communities. Our pollinator plan activities are mapped on the All-Ireland Pollinator Plan website: https://lnkd.in/ddXPwbke #BuiltForGood

At Cairn, we are committed to leading the way by demonstrating to the construction industry that together, we can make a positive impact on our world by building Passive Houses at scale. We see this as an opportunity to tackle the housing shortage and climate change at the same time. The Passive House standard is driven by Cairn's innovative and forward thinking mindset. Offering a dramatic reduction in a building’s carbon footprint, this standard provides constant comfort for homeowners and minimises, or even eliminates, the need for heating throughout the year. The result is lower energy bills and reduced financial stress for generations to come. To learn more on Passive Homes see: https://lnkd.in/eUJuykGV #BuiltForGood #PassiveHomes

Last weekend, the Cairn Community Games National Volunteer Awards 2024 brought together volunteers from across the country for a special night to celebrate and recognise their commitment to the organisation. Marie Crowe, of RTÉ, served as MC for the evening. The Awards saw a volunteer win from each county with Carmel Yore from Meath taking home the overall Cairn Community Games National Volunteer of the Year Award! It was a momentous occasion as it highlighted her dedication across various roles over 47 years. We are very proud to continue this partnership into 2025 and beyond as communities join together to participate in a variety of sports and cultural events. We look forward to celebrating the volunteers next year. Without their involvement, Cairn Community Games simply would not exist.
