As we stand at the close of 2024, we thank everyone who has been part of the journey throughout what has been a transformative year for our company. A year in which we brought four separate companies under one Pilgrim's Europe’s umbrella to become the largest own-label supplier in the UK, the #2 food company in the country, as well as a leading European company in our industry. A year in which we didn’t just integrate; we innovated. We’ve seen growth across our key brands and customers. We’ve increased exports - opening 22 new countries. We’ve made strides in sustainability. And we’ve introduced 725 new products across retail and foodservice that have resonated with consumers across the UK, Ireland, France and beyond. All while maintaining our commitment to safety and quality, always. Now, as we look to the future, the road ahead is bright. The consolidation of our teams and operations gives us the strength to be more agile and responsive than ever before and to continuously elevate the experience we offer to our customers. And of course, we do all of this together – united by our vision to be the best in all that we do! Thank you for your continued support and wishing all our team, customers and partners a healthy and prosperous 2025 ahead.

We're delighted to feature strongly in The Grocer’s Top Products reviews across fresh meat and meat-free 🍗🥓🥩 Richmond has delivered standout launches this year, including Extra Tasty sausages in September and Extra Tasty Pigs in Blankets just in time for Christmas. As Jason Winstanley, our Head of Research and Insights, highlights, sausages are more than just a staple; they offer budget-conscious consumers a reliable and delicious option during the cost-of-living crisis. Richmond is also making waves in the meat-free category, securing the #3 spot in The Grocer’s top 25 table. Comments from Marketing Director Chris Doet note that while economic pressures have led some flexitarians to opt for traditional meat options, Richmond’s meat-free range continues to meet demand for quality, plant-based meals. We’re proud to innovate across both traditional and meat-free categories, adapting to evolving consumer needs while maintaining our commitment to quality and value. We’re continuing to invest in the long-term future of British pig production. This includes offering a new longer-term, more financially stable package to farmers from all sectors of UK agriculture🚜. Our plan is for continuous improvement, and to support the UK pig market. However, this market is becoming smaller. So, we’ve decided to change things. One of the big changes is the length of the new contracts – 20 years – alongside structured payments to ensue farmers always make a positive margin. Read more in Pig World Magazine to learn more about our new offer and get insight from Eduardo Miotto Ternus, Heidi Dekker-Woljung, and Mark Jagger in our Agri team 👇

At Pilgrim’s Europe, we’re making every effort to be part of the mission to reduce waste and fight hunger 🙌 Since partnering with The Felix Project, we’ve donated the equivalent of 1 million meals from our surplus food! Every week, Felix delivers food to over 1,000 community organisations across some of London’s most deprived areas, including foodbanks, schools, soup kitchens, refuges, and charities. Our contributions help provide vital support to 1.5 million adults in London struggling to afford daily meals and 400,000 children at risk of going hungry. #PilgrimsEurope #Felix

As a business we support the United Nations Guiding Principles on Human Rights and we’re committed to raising awareness of workers’ rights by going further in understanding our supply chains and supporting our employees. Today we hosted a session with Gavin Heryng from Hope for Justice and Slave-Free Alliance to further raise awareness of Modern Slavery including what to look out for, reporting processes and our partnerships to support those impacted. This builds on our collaboration with Co-op and Waitrose & Partners to complete a first of its kind Human Rights Impact Assessment across our pig and lamb supply chains within the UK last year. In partnership with a key customer we have now extended this to our poultry supply chain helping to create a transparent supply chain with people treated fairly across our three key protein networks. Beyond this, through our work as part of the Bright Future initiative we’ve seen first-hand the transformative impact Bright Future can have, empowering victims by providing them with new work and language skills and supporting their growth in environments where they are valued. We acknowledge our responsibility to lead by example, setting a standard for others in the industry to follow suit to build resilience and eradicate modern slavery in supply chains.
Tuesday is Human Rights Day – an important opportunity to affirm the basic principles and fundamental rights that belong to all people, everywhere. Learn more in the last edition of our Fast Facts newsletter. ⬇️
