A cosy Christmas for All Saints Church 🎄 Visitors to All Saints Church in Lindfield can enjoy a warmer welcome this festive season! We’ve recently completed the installation of a modern underfloor heating system at Church House (known locally as The Tiger), part of this stunning Grade II-listed complex. With a history dating back to 1098, this upgrade ensures the building continues to serve as a vital hub for the community. Alongside the installation, we added acoustic and thermal insulation, making the space comfortable and efficient for its many users. From community groups to the Ukrainian Friendship Group and Tiger Cubs nursery, this historic space will now be enjoyed in warmth and comfort for years to come. #HistoricBuildings #Community Andrew Arrow MCIOB Alan Corbett MSc FCIArb MCIOB

Exciting upgrades at St Margaret’s CE Primary School 📚 We have delivered essential upgrades at St Margaret’s CE Primary School in Rottingdean, creating two modern, inviting classrooms for the pupils. In partnership with Evolution Architects, we tackled structural improvements, including strengthening the roof, fortifiying the walls and added Cedral Lap cladding for durability and a fresh new look. These updates ensure the safety and comfort of both pupils and staff, providing an inspiring environment for learning and growth. We also redecorated corridors and added new kitchen facilities, transforming the classrooms into a vibrant, functional space for everyone. The work was carefully timed during the holidays to avoid disruption, and seeing the children thriving in their new classrooms has made this project especially rewarding. AGS One have made excellent work of this very difficult task!
It's all about process and teamwork especially when working on a Scheduled Monument. At AGS One we are extremely proud to have supported the Pilbeam Construction site team at Newhaven Fort, meticulously removing layers of paint, bitumen, and bullet-hard cement from the walls of the 19th Century Fort. Working closely with Pilbeam and the conservation team photo 1 shows the different types of blast media trialled before work started.

We recently welcomed students from Northease School to site. 👷♂️ The trip to Newhaven Fort was part of the East Sussex County Council Open Doors initiative. Students were given a glimpse into how we’re preserving heritage using modern construction techniques. Engaging young people in our industry is key to tackling the UK’s skills shortage - experiences like this can make all the difference in sparking interest in construction careers. A big thanks to their teachers for organising the visit, and for their positive feedback! Wave Active Alan Corbett MSc FCIArb MCIOB Duncan Kerr Henry C. Matt M.

More support is needed for young talent in construction. The UK construction industry is facing a skills shortage, putting Labour’s goal of building 1.5m homes at risk. We’re urging the government to step up support for SMEs and create incentives for young people to enter our industry. Our managing director Alan Corbett MSc FCIArb MCIOB Corbett highlights the need for expanded apprenticeship schemes and training programmes to build a workforce that can meet the UK’s housing targets. Glen Arun Care Home in Horsham will soon be welcoming many more residents! Hats off to our project team for their expert planning to more than double the number of bedrooms – taking them from 26 to 54. Innovative design helped make the most of under-utilised land to transform the space. As well as twice as many bedrooms, the new extended space includes new bathrooms and even a hair salon. We’re particularly proud our team delivered such a major extension so sensitively. Careful logistical planning avoided residents needing to move out and meant Glen Arun could keep its doors open during the build. It’s a design solution we feel sure could help other care homes to increase capacity and revenue in a challenging market. Thanks to the work of Pritchard Architecture behind the scenes dealing with Historic England, we are progressing well at Newhaven Fort! Some difficult repair work undertaken with care and sensitivity, but being achieved in good time and ready for the fit-out phase. Pilbeam Construction #Refurbishment #Construction
Repointing works to the casemate frontages and repairs to the Gun Emplacement and Battery Observation Post are progressing really well. Some great work being carried out by Pilbeam Construction at Newhaven Fort. The £7.5m project not only includes repairs and restoration to parts of the Fort, but new interpretation, exhibition and play area. Funding comes from part of the Newhaven Town Deal fund. We presented a special plaque to St Mary’s Church in Horsham after our renovation project won a Sussex Heritage Trust Award this year. We’re so proud of the work our team did to improve the flexibility of space in the South Aisle of the Grade-1 listed building in Causeway, Horsham, parts of which date back to 1247. Churchgoers also now enjoy new underfloor heating, creating a comfortable space for people to take refreshments during concerts and after services. This was a special project which required a sensitive approach and together with our partners we won first place in the Ecclesiastical category. To present a plaque to our friends at St Mary’s and see how well the project has been received was inspiring. We hope the newly renovated space will be used and appreciated for many years to come.
