  • It is a new milestone that brings us even closer to the success of our Speed Challenge: beating the overall Nürburgring lap record with a battery electric prototype.⚡ You may have watched some videos of Nico Perrin at the wheel of 424 around the ‘Ring…on a compact sim racing simulator using a Virtual Reality headset. This tool is completely unique as it reproduces the inside layout of the 424 cockpit! It has been designed by the PERRINN Team then built by Nico Perrin himself for the purpose of helping us in the design and set-up of 424. 📐 With limited money investment and great contribution from the whole community eager to learn as well as succeed together, we have carried out this project in a sustainable way.🙂 We can now perform training sessions and quick test procedures when needed. We are also able to adjust parameters based on data (of course!) and realistic feelings from the drivers: field of view, level of confidence in regards to the car behaviour, ergonomics of the driving position, etc… The birth and main characteristics of this portable rig have been documented here: 👉 https://lnkd.in/dWd4Rizi Cannot wait to hear your thoughts on that! 😀 PERRINN 424 We are a Team Nürburgring 1927 GmbH & Co. Could Artificial Intelligence (AI) beat our top drivers around the Nürburgring Nordschleife? Let’s find out developing an AI capable of driving 424 in our Unity simulation, full speed ahead! 🙂 We have just set up a task force whose mission is to implement a reinforcement deep learning algorithm using Unity technology (Machine Learning Agents). It will be a very useful tool to test and evaluate performance changes whenever we update the design of 424, for example. We might also gain valuable insights that could lead to identifying strategies or techniques discovered by AI to go even faster around the ‘Ring. Exciting times, innovation never stops. 😀 PERRINN 424 We are a Team Nürburgring 1927 GmbH & Co. KG Unity Miguel Alonso Jr.

  • We can say that 424 is 95% ready to tackle the challenge of beating the lap record at the Nürburgring Nordschleife. We are now exploring various opportunities to find the right partner(s) that will get the chance to back us, invest in this (almost 😉) turnkey project and take full advantage of some great exposure. Meanwhile, every detail counts… 🔍 Our new simulator is very realistic as it reproduces the exact driving position of 424. The team has already made some adjustments in order to refine the ergonomics of our electric hypercar cockpit. It has been built in keeping with the fine-tuning phase we are in as far as the race prototype is concerned. We have designed 424 chassis, chosen the engines, defined the battery, polished the aerodynamics of the bodywork and developed software that must control fixtures aimed at enhancing the performance & safety of the car (Drag Reduction System, speed limiter segments,...). It is a new tool at our disposal to continue the work we have been doing for years now. We are engineers, we cannot help testing and trying to optimize every aspect of our vehicle. 🤔 Lately, we have found alternative set-up solutions to further improve the behaviour of 424 around the Nordschleife thanks to additional test drive sessions on the simulator: 🔹 Playing with the differentials locking parameters enables finding some additional tenths of a second around the lap. ➡ We have opted for differentials which are 20% more open than previously. 🔹 Moving the aero balance rearwards helps decrease high speed oversteer on corner entry. ➡ We have lowered the front downforce a bit by reducing the static flap by 2 degrees. And we must admit this portable rig equipped with VR is quite fun as well to create very nice videos…isn’t it, Nico Perrin? 😀 PERRINN 424 We are a Team Nürburgring 1927 GmbH & Co. • Overcoming difficulties and solving problems to carry out a complex project like PERRINN 424 implies being very tenacious and resilient. At the same time, it is essential to be able to question ourselves constantly and keep being open-minded. Although it may seem quite trivial…it is not always easy to find the right balance between perseverance and readiness to compromise. Yet, experience has taught us that it is the only way to succeed in this undertaking. 🤔 In other words: 📝 We are convinced that we are on the good path and that everything we create and work on brings us closer to the concretization of our dream of beating the Nürburgring lap record and participating in Le Mans 24h with our electric hypercar 424. We make a point of delivering very high quality solutions fuelled by the expertise, dedication and passion of our community. While continuing to improve various aspects of 424 design and our Unity driving simulation, we now feel ready to go to the next step and make all of it become a reality….which requires some funds. This is where our whole project needs to meet the market demand. Is it a question of time? Do we need to review some aspects of our concept to make it more appealing? The future will tell.⏱ In this framework, we keep exploring new approaches regarding the technical topics as well as marketing, team organization, value proposition, etc... 🔍 Just one of many examples: 🧐 Think of the Red-Bull RB17, Aston Martin Valkyrie, McLaren W1,...what about a 2-seater version of 424 BEV (battery version, for the Nürburgring lap record)? This would of course slow down the car a bit but the value of being able to have a passenger aboard such a high performance hypercar is huge as it would become the ultimate track car with a passenger. ➡ We have started some pre-analysis as far as the driver field of view and aero efficiency are concerned to evaluate the impact of such an update. 👉 It looks like it is too big a compromise for the Nürburgring outright record which is the reason why the study is now paused…but it is still an option to be considered depending on what potential future customer(s) will require. Anyway, we remain flexible.🙂 Anybody interested in acquiring a 2-seater version of 424?😉 PERRINN 424 We are a Team Nürburgring 1927 GmbH & Co. 424 will use Artificial intelligence (AI) to manage Drag Reduction System (DRS) and speed limiter segments! 😲 DRS is the device that will decrease the drag of 424 front and rear wings automatically when the car enters some specific sectors of the track where top speed is more important than downforce. Speed limiter segments are areas where the PERRINN team has decided to slow the car down in order to prevent it from crashing. These tools were developed using our Unity 424 driving simulation and they are quite mature today. Those 2 features are managed automatically thanks to a lap distance channel that allows the car electronic system to know exactly where it stands on the track at any time. In the virtual world, the input data “lap distance” is a channel among others which is not complicated to obtain and use. In real life though, it is a different story. We would need to equip 424 with a GPS or a speed over ground sensor…which means adding weight to the car whereas every 100g counts in our quest to the Nürburgring Nordschleife lap record. ⚖ Therefore, we would much prefer another option: calculating the car speed & lap distance from the data we already get from the car such as steering angle, wheel speeds, accelerations, etc… And that is where AI will help us. As usual, we are testing the solution in our driving simulation for purposes of integrating it in the real car providing that the results are convincing. Still work in progress, this approach is very promising: the first iteration of the code results in only 8 meters error over the full Nürburgring Nordschleife distance of 21,000 meters. 📏 If you feel like exploring this model and improving it, it will be a pleasure to introduce you to our AI speed estimator. • After weeks of design and contact with various potential suppliers, the bill of materials of our 424 simulator is almost complete. This tool will help us refine the driving position and steering geometry of 424 while establishing a pool of test drivers as well as creating marketing content. It will be a high performance portable rig comprising a RTX 4080 Super GPU (graphics processing unit). The driver will be equipped with a Virtual Reality headset to get a fully immersive experience and an additional display will enable other people to view what the driver sees. 🎮 The first purchase orders will be issued in the next couple of weeks so that the building of the simulator can start thereafter. According to the latest updates, we have already raised more than 50% of the crowdfunding target thanks to the investment of various PERRINN team members. Still missing a little bit to be able to buy every component. 👉 If you wish, you are more than welcome to participate in the fundraising at PERRINN.com and join the PERRINN community at the same time. 😀 PERRINN 424 We are a Team

  • PERRINN 424 Sim Racing Team is happy to unveil the broad lines of its future schedule. 📆 As already stated, a sine qua non condition for us to go sim racing is to enter prototype endurance events to showcase the PERRINN livery. Our ultimate goal being to race in Le Mans 24h, it seems quite logical to consider a series allowing us to virtually compete in this legendary race. Among all the existing possibilities, Le Mans Ultimate, the official FIA World Endurance Championship game, is exactly what we are looking for. The simulation is currently available in early access, we are not sure when the final version of the game will be released. Anyway, we look forward to it and are very excited at the thought of competing in the afferent racing series. Meanwhile, do not worry for us, no chance of being bored! The development of both BEV and FCEV versions of 424 continues as well as the optimization of our Unity driving simulation. In parallel, we are working on a thrilling project which is also an important milestone: the design and build of a proper 424 simulator. Before the beginning of the school year, let’s get an overview of the various powertrain and energy storage solutions 424 is going to be equipped with. 📝 To put it in a nutshell, 424 is a prototype car that will exist in various versions adapted to the different challenges we are going to tackle. It is kind of a platform that will evolve with time as technology progresses and depending on the specific requirements of each track and race we go to. For the record, 424 has initially been envisioned as an LMP1 car powered by an Internal Combustion Engine before receiving a chassis compatible with hybrid technology. ⚡ Nowadays, 424 is a full electric prototype designed by PERRINN, the most sustainable racing team. The electric engines have already been chosen and will be 3 Formula E motors, 1 at the front & 2 at the rear. As far as the energy storage solution is concerned, quite a few options are being assessed by our engineering team: 🔹 For the Nürburgring lap record attempt, a battery will be adopted as we need a technology that delivers the power required to beat 5:19.55, the time performed by the impressive Porsche 919 Hybrid Evo. The exact definition of the battery is not fully settled yet but we are getting close to finding a satisfying and easily sourceable solution. 🔹 To take part in Le Mans 24h, we will switch to a hydrogen fuel cell because getting sufficient autonomy for endurance racing is not possible with the current state of battery technology. Fitting a hydrogen tank will make fast recharge/refuelling possible and therefore decrease pit-stop time. Furthermore, a rulebook for a brand new hydrogen class is being written out by the governing body of the competition. Of course, each version of the car has its own particularities. Nevertheless, the concept remains exactly the same and various areas of those 2 prototypes are closely linked when it comes to vehicle dynamics, suspension, brakes, or even aerodynamics. Therefore, we keep working on both cars at the same time as the experience we get in designing the BEV version of 424 helps us make the right choices for the FCEV version and vice versa. Feel free to join our WhatsApp community to follow the project and ask any question you may have: https://lnkd.in/eSYfGTUn PERRINN 424 We are a Team Automobile Club de l'Ouest Circuit des 24 Heures du Mans Nürburgring 1927 GmbH & Co.
