The professional network championing Black and Asian representation in the construction industry

About us

PARADIGM is a professional network for architects who are passionate about increasing Black & Asian representation within the Built Environment. We exist to support, encourage, and help talented architects from Black & Asian backgrounds in education and as they progress in their careers. We are also keen to promote the development of Black & Asian-led practices. We believe that encouraging a more diverse design team reflects the society we live in, and creates a richer society. Architecture can drive the potential to transform people’s quality of life, stimulate the economy, and enhance the environment. We aim to do this through knowledge sharing & best practice, lobbying ideas in the profession around education and career progression, strategic thinking with external national and international organisational bodies, and collaborative working with industry supporters.

  • As the year draws to a close, we’re feeling reflective at Paradigm Network. Back in June, London Festival of Architecture proudly announced the incredible individuals shaping #LFA2025, the minds behind the bold ideas that will define next year’s Festival, including our very own co-founder Yemi Aladerun. She will be joined by Amy Frearson of Dezeen, Dhruv Gulabchande of HFM Architects and Narrative Practice, Chetna Kapacee of Wandsworth Borough Council, Shahed Saleem of the University of Westminster, and Satu Streatfield of Publica to bring fresh perspectives, creativity, and expertise to the table. Looking back reminds us of the power of collaboration and the importance of diverse voices in creating meaningful change. • Celebrating Small to Medium Black and Asian-led Practices in the UK 👇 This month, we’re proud to spotlight Singh Fudge Architects and their Kensington Project. Yes, our architects excel at interiors too! Founded in 2021, Singh Fudge Architects is a dynamic practice delivering projects across diverse sectors - including private residential, multi-unit housing schemes, office fit-outs, retail, and education - on a national scale. Today’s feature showcases their work on a marketing suite designed to unlock the potential of a vacant office space in a 6-storey CAT A fit-out. Drawing inspiration from natural materials and tones, they’ve created an inviting and serene atmosphere. The space balances function and beauty, offering areas for collaboration, dining, and meetings, all flooded with natural light thanks to an extensively glazed façade with stunning views of London. 📸 Keep tapping to see more of this project Image Credit: Kilian O'Sullivan / Singh Fudge Architects #Interiors #LondonArchitects #Fitout

  • It's the last day of Black History Month and today we #TBT to when we celebrated the powerful work of the African Futures Institute (AFI) and the visionary leadership of Prof. Lesley Lokko 🌍 👇 Arup hosted a multidisciplinary panel that included Paradigm Network founders Tara .I. Gbolade and Yemi Aladerun. They were joined by other panelists on the night who together reflected on the essential work AFI leads all year round. The discussion revolved around a crucial question: ❓What can Africa teach the world about ADAPTATION? Exploring the potential of the built environment through African perspectives, panelists focused on innovative approaches to resilience, resource conservation, and the synergy between artificial and adaptive intelligence. They also discussed how concepts like degrowth and multidisciplinary collaboration can guide us toward a more equitable and sustainable future. #BlackHistoryMonth #AfricanFutures #SustainableDesign #Resilience #Adaptation

  • This week, we’re continuing our series spotlighting small to medium-sized Black and Asian-led practices in the UK! ⬇️ Today, we’re featuring K Bava Architects and their stunning project: Garden House. Based in London, K Bava Architects is a design-driven studio known for working with a diverse range of clients—from individual homeowners and local shops to major cultural organizations and high-end developers. Their expertise spans architecture, urban design, interior design, and conservation work. Here’s a closer look at Garden House: 🔸 "The formal arrangement of the house consists of two interlocking brick volumes, aligned with the existing garden walls. These intersecting alignments bring character and a sense of informality to the spaces. The small, enclosed courtyard at the rear creates an intimate outdoor space, while offering the main room a beautiful dual aspect." 🔸 "Materials like brick, marble, oak, and galvanized steel are meticulously assembled to evoke a sense of luxury and comfort, creating the perfect setting to enjoy nature." K Bava Architects collaborated on the architecture and interiors with Nick Hill Architects for this project. 📸 Image credit: K Bava Architects / Emily Marshall Be sure to explore their work, follow them, and share the inspiration ⚡️ #Architecture #BlackAndAsianArchitects #GardenHouse #KBavaArchitects
