Congrats to Electrified Thermal Solutions (ETS) on raising $19M in preparation for commercial-scale demonstrations of their fire brick technology to meet demand for 24/7 decarbonized thermal energy. We’ve had the pleasure of working with Daniel Stack and Joey Kabel early on and are continuing to support ETS’s growth as a returning investor for this round. Heavy industries, like cement and steel, need round-the-clock heat to meet manufacturing needs (currently served by natural gas). ETS’s renewable solution uses off-peak, low-cost renewable electricity to meet heat demand – eliminating the need to rely on fossil fuels for thermal energy. Great piece from TechCrunch’s Tim De Chant on how ETS’ firebricks are redefining how we produce heat: https://lnkd.in/eGgxSWyT

Congratulations to our CEO, Apoorv, for being recognized as a Forbes 30 under 30 All-Star Alumni for Energy & Greentech! The recognition comes at a pivotal moment in Carbon Upcycling's history as we continue to scale to our first-of-a-kind commercial system. Looking back at the past five years, we are grateful to have grown alongside our partners to democratize low-carbon cement production. Our team of 7 to now 43 has scaled our technology over 20x and enabled more than 3,000 tonnes of enhanced low-carbon cement products to be deployed in foundations, roads and pathways across North America. As we look to the next five years and the end of the decade, we look with urgency. Our team is driven by our north star of reducing 4 million tonnes of CO2 by 2030 - a goal we plan to achieve with our incredible partners by transforming CO2 and industrial solid waste into tomorrow's enhanced low-carbon materials.

Eight percent of today’s global electricity usage is spent on generating the power to run cooling equipment for refrigerated warehouses, diesel fuel for “reefer” trucks and more. Luckily, companies like Rebound Technologies Inc. are developing refrigeration technologies that can reduce carbon dioxide emissions of cooling facilities by 80% in most markets in the US – ultimately serving as an anchor for a low-carbon food industry. More from Boston Globe Media on how Rebound is a key player in decarbonizing the global cooling industry: https://lnkd.in/genZPAhP
