💡Here is a very interesting post from Amanda Brock on The New Stack highlighting the importance of global #cooperation in #opensource #technology and the potential #threats posed by the current #geopolitical tensions. The post highlights three important thing IMHO: 🌍 #Geopolitical #impact, where geopolitical tensions and sanctions could fragment the open source community. ⚖️ #Legal and #regulatory #challenges, with the complexities of complying with international laws and sanctions while maintaining open source principles. 🤗 #Community #integrity, the open source community needs to remain inclusive and not discriminate based on nationality. 🎯For me, the main borders with open source is ruled by its licence not by the geographical ones (except few cases with crypto usage and export controls, I guess), so I agree with Amanda that "open source is not local source”, and we should maintaining open source as a #globally #collaborative #effort, and in particular considering the rise of #AI, despite #political and #regulatory #challenges. 2025 will certainly be an eye-opener on this subject.
