It is with great sadness that we reflect on the passing of Sir Jim Walker, a visionary leader and the heart and soul of Walker's Shortbread Ltd. who made an indelible mark on the world and touched the lives of so many. We had the distinct honour of working with Sir Jim at The Herald Scotland Scottish Family Business Breakfast this past August. In true Jim Walker fashion, he brought wisdom, humility, and warmth to the occasion. His words resonated with everyone in the room, offering not only a window into the rich legacy of Walker's Shortbread but also invaluable insights on what it truly means to lead a family business with integrity and passion. He attributed the company’s success to a combination of hard work, common sense, and a steadfast commitment to quality—a philosophy encapsulated in his mantra: "Do a simple job well – focus on the things that really matter." Jim’s legacy is one of excellence, perseverance, and dedication to family and tradition. Under his leadership, Walker’s Shortbread became synonymous with quality and authenticity, loved by generations around the globe. This was marked at the 2023 The Herald Scottish Family Business Awards in association with Business Gateway when he received the Outstanding Contribution Award, sponsored by Strathclyde Business School, although he humbly acknowledged the collective achievements rather than his own in his acceptance speech. In August he concluded the discussion with a Chinese proverb, “If a family is at peace with itself, its business will prosper”. Our thoughts are with his family, friends, and the entire Walker’s team during this time. His loss is deeply felt, but his legacy will continue to inspire for years to come.

We had the opportunity to be a part of recognising the fantastic work of so many across the agricultural sector at the second Scottish Agriculture Awards last night 🎉 👏 🏆 Huge congratulations to W Murray Farming Ltd, who our Onshore Origination and Development MD, Gillian Noble, presented the ‘Champion of Champion’ award to! They provide tailored agricultural solutions and haulage services, but it was also their approach to working with their clients as partners in their success, building strong relationships between farmers, landowners and the land itself that saw them recognised amongst their peers. That’s a sentiment we share, as our landowners are firmly at the heart of what we do as a renewable developer. With over 20 years’ experience helping many diversify, unlock other income opportunities and develop sustainable solutions, we’re really proud of what we’ve been able to achieve together 💚 Find out more about our approach to working with landowners and get in touch with our team here 👉 https://lnkd.in/e-QFAHGV #AgriAwards24 #ScottishAgriculture #ChampionofChampions #RenewableEnergy #Landowners Newsquest Events Scotland & Northern Ireland The Scottish Farmer AGRISCOT RHASS

Well done to RHASS, The Scottish Farmer AGRISCOT and the irrepressible Cammy Wilson of The Sheep Game for a simply superb night of celebrating many of the exceptional people who make our Scottish farming community so special. We are hugely grateful that RSABI was chosen as the charity to support on the night and our CEO Carol McLaren ARAgS is pictured giving an update on the work of the charity. Also pictured is James Logan, Chair of RHASS, who reminded everyone of the “spirit of collaboration, support and innovation which is deeply embedded in Scottish agriculture. We inspire each other to greater things.” Special thanks to Nina Holmes of Newsquest Events Scotland & Northern Ireland. Wow, just wow Nina! 🤩 #keeptalking #scottishagriculturalawards #farming
